The Boston Celtics have come to terms with Jeff Green to play one more year at least in a Celtic uniform. The deal is for one year in the five to six million range. This gives Green an opportunity to back up his words of wanting to show Boston that he can really play and earn a lucrative long term deal.
The Celtics keeping Green is a no brainer and not because the team gave up Kendrick Perkins to get him. The team had serious issues scoring off the bench last season. The bench was so sad that even Green’s barely cracking double digit points off the bench were ranked near the top. The fact is Green is going to be motivated if nothing else, but to earn a long term deal. This means that the timid Green that was afraid to shoot will be looking to run and gun.
The athletic Green has all the tools. He can score in the post, from the mid range, from the outside, and can flat out fly up the court for easy baskets. The only thing missing was an aggressive desire to use these skills. The fa...

On re-signing Jeff Green
During Jeff Green’s half season in Boston, I was often his biggest detractor. But now that Green is signed, I’m unequivocally happy. My smile has nothing to do with my blind love for the Celtics, nor does it have anything to do with changing my opinion on Green. I still have serious questions about whether Green can be a building block for the future, in Boston or anywhere...
Jeff Green Re-Signs with Celtics
1 year deal.
So the roster is taking shape. I think people down the road will look at the Celtics not getting Chris Paul as a blessing in disguise. With news that Brandon Roy will retire today because of his knee, you simply can't mortgage your whole future and pay $102 million to a 6 foot point guard with his knee issues. Not sure if Green took the qualifier or they negotiated...
The Boston Celtics re-sign Jeff Green
The Celtics have re-signed 25-year old forward Jeff Green to a 1-year deal. Green played in 26 games (2 starts) for the Celtics last year and he averaged 23.5 minutes, 9.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He played in 75 games (51 starts) overall last year for the Thunder & Celtics and he averaged 32.4 minutes, 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game...
In the GreenLab: Defeating the "Sag" Defense
In the first part of the GreenLab series, I examined several options of how Rajon Rondo can defeat defenses that go under screens against him. This defense forces him to shoot the jumper and attempts to cut off his passing and slashing angles. As I pointed out, the Celtics function as a team to cover up his shooting issues and do have several ways to defeat it.
In this second...

Jeff Green can derail any trade for Chris Paul
Wouldn't that be a kick in the groin? The Celtics are finally able to negotiate a deal for Chris Paul, but Jeff Green comes along and says "Not so fast..."
Berger did not issue a follow-up tweet, so I'm not exactly sure of the specifics on the leverage.
Regarding Delonte West, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski has this update:

Jeff Green re-signs with Boston for one-year, $9 million. Which is weird. And kind of genius.
Jeff Green was spoken of as part of the Celtics future, as the big building block to put beside Rajon Rondo. The acquisition of Green for Kendrick Perkins was highly controversial in Boston, made only worse by his performance last season and in the playoffs (though he had a few moments). Green was supposed to…
Celtics acquiring David West? On West, Chris Wilcox, Jeff Green and the wizardry of Danny Ainge
Despite a Boston Herald report saying that Celtics trade talks to acquire David West fell through, the Celtics are believed to be close to acquiring the two-time All-Star in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets (as first reported by David Aldridge). Better yet, the C’s are expected to acquire West in a sign-and-trade deal for… wait for it… chuckling at the prospect...

Training camp: Don't expect fun and games this year
The Celtics open training camp today in Waltham. Woo-hoo! There are very few specifics about the schedule, workouts and when the players will arrive.
There was a lot of optimism surrounding the team last year. The roster was firm. We had Shaq and Nate Robinson playing practical jokes daily. There's a completely different feel this season.
