Boston Celtics Report:
I will be the first to admit the Boston Celtics have a
serious need for help at the center position with a big body or two. However,
as Doc Rivers has made it clear there are not many seven footers in the world
and of the few even less can play basketball. I also understand that it is
Danny Ainge’s job to turn over every single stone. However, the Robert Swift
rumors need to stop because the move does not make any sense.
I can fully understand the infatuation that Ainge had with Swift in 2004. Swift was a
seven footer out of high school that was dominating the scene. He was athletic
and mobile and people thought that he would develop into a nifty low post
player. The man also had the beginnings of a solid mid range game. However,
Swift has had serious issues. The red head from Bakersfield California has had
many injuries that plagued him early on. The Supersonics were a bad team for a
while due to poor management and ownership and that did not help Swift one bit
as a player.
