Jermaine O’Neal has played in only 17 games this year. During those games, I would have to say half were played with limited minutes as he was either injured or coming back from injury. The result was only 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 18 minutes a game were all the man could muster for averages for the 2011 season. To say he has not produced thus far would be an understatement. However, those should not be so quick to write JO off just yet. O’Neal is set to return in a couple of weeks. This means he could provide an impact at a time when the Celtics need him most. The Celtics could get the production they need come playoff time form JO.
For starters JO is something that no other center on the Celtics roster is at this time. Kendrick Perkins is gone. Shaq is a nice scorer and big body to clog and bang in the middle defensively.
