Brandon Bass will miss the next 7-10 days due to a sore, swollen knee, leaving the Boston Celtics without their sixth man and primary bench scoring option. The Celtics often discuss injuries in time frames that are similar to dog years — where “7-10 days” means “out at least a month” — so let’s hope this isn’t another one of those occasions. I’m no knee specialist, but random swelling doesn’t sound great. At least he didn’t punch a friend in the face while his friend was driving a motor vehicle, which is how a certain former Celtics backup big man missed 27 games (I believe) at the start of the 2009-10 season. And no, I don’t know why I sometimes revert to bashing Glen Davis when I start to feel insecure about the Celtics.Jermaine O’Neal (body made of Fig Newtons) will also miss today’s game, a development which led to this sentence being written by Paul Flannery: “Chris Wilcox will start at ce...

Your Morning Dump... Where #9 was edgy

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. "Nine [Rondo] was edgy today, man. I loved it," Garnett said. "I love the fact that he came out and he set the tone. And I thought he got guys involved and he was all over the place. When we win...

Rajon Rondo did a lot of things in 21 seconds

With a little over 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter at the Garden on Sunday, I pointed out Rondo's stats on the scoreboard to my buddy. He figured there was no chance for a triple-double because at the time Rajon had just 6 rebounds. But after tracking down two in the game's final 21 seconds, he finished with 32 points, 15 assists, and 10 boards. There's only been...

Could Brandon Jennings be a trade piece for Rajon Rondo?

I saw an interesting tweet from ESPN’s Chris Broussard at the end of last week. I’ve probably said on the blog that I’m not a very big fan of Broussard, but he does have his ear to the grindstone when it comes to all things NBA, so I do follow his Tweeter feed [...]

Volvo Biggest Fan Challenge: The Garden 30

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Volvo Challenge. This one comes with a little synergy. It is another Volvo Challenge. Remember to go and vote for me in Volvo’s Biggest Fan in the Big East. Volvo, a Big East corporate sponsor for the Big East, wonders what the Biggest Fans in the Big East think constitute the Garden 30, that the Big East itself is asking in honor...

The first of those matchups takes place Sunday in Boston, where the Celtics have won four of their last five games. Many will be watching point guard Rajon Rondo, who had a forgettable performance Friday in Toronto but will likely...

Rajon To The Rescue, Rondo Racks Up Triple-Double As Celtics Top Bulls 95-91

The Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics entered their contest Sunday afternoon at the “New Garden” with rosters that were depleted by injury. The Bulls were without All-Star point guard Derrick Rose who was suffering from back spasms; while veteran guard Richard Hamilton was on the sidelines with a bruised thigh. Boston would take to the court minus starting center Jermaine...

Celtics 95, Bulls 91 highlights

Rook looked real good

Three weeks into this condensed season, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was touting JaJuan Johnson as a player who would be a factor in the Celtics’ season. At that point, after 10 games, Johnson had exactly one NBA field goal.
