Bleacher Report:
Reports have surfaced out of Denver that the Nuggets are close to signing unrestricted free agent Wally Szczerbiak to a one-year deal worth $1.3 million.
This move will make Szczerbiak the back up small forward and the new sixth man to replace Linas Kleiza, who bolted for Europe.
The Denver bench will now consist of Lawson and Anthony Carter playing at the PG position, Arron Afflalo at SG, Szczerbiak at SF, Malik Allen and Renaldo Balkman at PF, and Chris "Birdman" Anderson at center.
Missing from the bench is J.R. Smith, who will now be inserted as the team's starting SG.
Still, the Nuggets need to add one more player to make the 13-player minimum roster. That addition will most likely be either Coby Karl, or a trade involving one of their trade exemptions for a big man.
Possible big men I could see Denver targeting are Jeff Foster of Indiana, Marc Gasol of Memphis, or Aaron Gray, a restricted free agent from Chicago.
Stay tuned for the confirmation of the Szczerbiak...
