As soon as Rajon Rondo was declared to have torn his ACL, every fan was wondering who would take his place in the All-Star game and everyone was jockeying for their own favorite player to get into the game. However there is only one player who deserved the spot, the Brooklyn Nets’ center, Brook Lopez and David Stern made the right call, putting him into the game. Brook Lopez is the highest scoring big man in the Eastern Conference, has the fourth highest PER in the NBA, has improved his defense and rebounding and has been the best player on the team with the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference. That is quite the resume, for a player who did not make the team in the first place and despite the snub, he is exactly where he should be, in the big game. Here were the other candidates many deemed worthy and their stats so far this year. Looking at them, it is very easy to see why Brook Lopez was chosen. Brook Lopez: PPG: 18.6 … RPG: 7.3…  BPG: 2.2…  FGP: .525… PER: 2...

Celtics better without Rajon Rondo? Doc: "That's silly."

On WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Show this morning, Boston's head coach Doc Rivers was asked if he thought his team might be better without it's star point guard.  Here's Doc's response: That’s silly. The bottom line is that you’d rather have him. But we do have other guys that can do different things. Having Courtney Lee and Avery [Bradley] gives you size...

Rajon Rondo’s Torn ACL Could Force Celtics to Shuffle Players at Trade Deadline

For much of the 2012-13 season, it appeared as though the Boston Celtics might be able to hang on to their spot among the Eastern Conference’s elite, that no longer seems to be the case. Not on the NBA moneyline, at least, where their odds of winning the NBA championship have dipped to 30-1. This, we’ll remind you, is a team whose been a mainstay within the NBA futures’ top...

A starter didn't score until Joe Johnson's 3-pointer gave...

Celtics-Magic Live: Jeff Green, Celts Try to Keep Rolling Without Rajon Rondo

8 a.m. ET: So far, so good for the Celtics without their All-Star point guard. They are 2-0 since Rajon Rondo went down for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, although just 1-0 since they actually learned of the injury. (Aside from Doc Rivers and a few people on the medical staff, nobody knew of Rondo’s diagnosis until after Sunday’s win over the Heat.) The Celtics...

Green Envy: What Orlando Magic Fans Said - Feb. 1, 2013

The Boston Celtics won their third-straight game without Rajon Rondo on the floor. With a 97-84 trouncing of the Orlando Magic, Boston is back at .500. Their 23-23 record has them holding tight for the eight-seed in the Eastern Conference. The Magic fans seem fairly reserved to their fate as a cellar team in the East right now, and could definitely use some sort of pick-me-up. ...

BOSTON — Jason Terry and Leandro Barbosa were working at a feverish pace, driving to the hole and firing shots with abandon, when a timeout brought a momentary reprieve from the chaos. “What are we running?” they asked Doc Rivers on the bench. “I have no idea,” the coach replied.
