Jocks and Stiletto Jill:
The NBA trade deadline is February 21st, a little over a week a way. Of course the rumors are starting to heat up but one move that seems likely to happen is the Hawks moving Josh Smith. The most active team in trade rumors, the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are said to be in high pursuit of Josh Smith but nothing is close. The Nets are also said to be interested in a trade with the Bobcats sending Kris Humphries to Charlotte for Ben Gordon. Smith is the priority in these trade scenarios.
The Nets are willing to give up Humphries and second-year shooting guard MarShon Brooks for Smith. But it almost certainly will take more than a Humphries-Brooks combination to pry Smith away from Atlanta, and one source said the Hawks want Brooklyn’s first-round pick.
Some scenarios that have been discussed include the Hawks’ Anthony Morrow, who played the past two seasons with the Nets, returning to the club.
The Hawks are looking for a young center in return for Smith.
BEST OF MAXIM
Add the San Antonio Spurs to the long, long list of teams interested in acquiring Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith.
Yahoo Sports reported:
"The Spurs are among the teams with interest in Hawks forward Josh Smith,
a source told Yahoo! Sports. Keep in mind, Hawks general manager Danny
Ferry was previously with the Spurs."
This was the meat of the rumor tucked into...
Josh Smith is having yet another well-balanced, 'Josh Smith-esque' type season for the 27-22 Hawks, putting up 16.9 points, 8.5 boards, 4.0 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.3 steals a game, the only player in the NBA averaging 16/8/4/2/1. However, the Hawks are not impressed. Well, not impressed enough to offer Smith, an unrestricted free agent this summer, a maximum contract to...
PIECE OF THE PUZZLE
The Nets have been very aggressive during the last two trade deadlines and will seemingly be active this year, as they are reportedly pursuing Josh Smith.
While the Brooklyn Nets are reported to be in hot pursuit of Hawks’ Josh Smith, it is being reported that the San Antonio Spurs are also among the mix of teams interested.
According to Yahoo! Sports:
The Spurs are among the teams with interest in Hawks forward Josh Smith, a source told Yahoo! Sports. Keep in mind, Hawks general manager Danny Ferry was previously with the Spurs.
ATLANTA Over the next nine days, you'll be inundated with a slew of rumor-based pieces speculating on the trade status of Hawks forward Josh Smith, who'll be an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
This isn't one of 'em.
Instead, we'll operate under the highly plausible scenario that Smith remains with Atlanta past Feb. 21 (NBA trade deadline) and...
Josh Smith activated full-troll-mode in Dallas, where he drained a career-high four three-pointers (on just five tries) as the Hawks defeated the Mavericks 105-101. Needless to say, he also did some really stupid ****; even his made three-pointers were actually stupid ****, but they happened to not be airballs somehow. Smith didn’t do nearly as much stupid **** as the Mavericks...
One thing is certainly clear; the Nets plan to be busy before the Feb. 21 trade deadline.
Just a few short hours after I finished a story about the possible Kris Humphries for Ben Gordon trade that has been talked about, ESPN’s Chris Broussard reports that the Nets are very interested in Atlanta forward Josh Smith. Both the Nets and the Hawks have discussed a possible trade for...
DALLAS (AP) — Josh Smith had 26 points and 13 rebounds, Devin Harris made a key steal in the final minute and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Dallas Mavericks 105-101 Monday night.
The Brooklyn Nets are chasing Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. Where do things stand?
The two teams are engaged in discussions. But one source said while "there has been lots of talk, nothing is close yet."
This comes as the February 21 trade deadline inches closer. Who would go in a potential deal? The Nets are offering Kris...
The Brooklyn Nets are currently the fifth seed in the East and capped out for the foreseeable future, because of over 300 million dollars committed in the off-season. This involved adding or keeping, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace and other minor players. However, word is that they are going hard after Atlanta Hawks’ star forward, Josh...
Not long ago, the Atlanta Hawks were one of the bigger surprises in the NBA. However, their strong first two months appear to be a distant memory with the club on a run of inconsistent play since.
The Dallas Mavericks hope their promising homestand can help spark them back toward the .500 mark, and they'll go for a third straight victory Monday night against a Hawks team that...
