The Brooklyn Nets still want Dwight Howard. And, according to Real GM's Jarrod Rudolph, they're exploring ways to get D12 from the struggling Lakers, believing "Howard can be had for the right price." Rudolph has a whopper of a rumor: Nets GM Billy King was preparing to contact the Minnesota Timberwolves to gauge interest in a three-team deal that would have sent Kevin Love to the L.A., Brook Lopez to the Wolves and Howard to the Nets. "Other small pieces would need to be included, but the proposed trade was thought to be intriguing enough to start conversations in the Lakers front office that would force them to deal with Howard earlier than planned," Rudolph reported. However, Love's hand injury scuttled that proposal. The Nets will keep searching for a piece that interests LA, "but won’t make getting Howard as big a priority as last season," Rudolph reported. This is a huge rumor. But it's also a rumor that we've been hearing for at least two seasons. Yes, a lot of teams want Howard. But it'll take a lot to get him. The Nets are denying the report (via Nets Daily): "Nets source: Howard trade rumor 'total BS' ... 'fabricated' by 'Jarrod Whatever His Name Is' Strong words delivered minutes after report." As far as Love goes, I can't imagine the Wolves would move him for Lopez.
