For the entire season, the city of Chicago has held their collective breath as they have waited for their star guard Derrick Rose to return from an ACL injury he suffered in last year’s playoffs.  The number one seed last year watched their championship dreams slip away when Rose went down with the devastating injury. Nearly a year after the injury, Rose has been cleared to play, but has been in no rush to come back because he is lacking confidence about the strength in his left knee. This has upset Bulls fans as this year’s team has seen a decrease in production from last year’s squad.  With the playoffs just a few days away, it is anticipated that the Bulls will land in the sixth or the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. The lack of urgency to return has had many fans question his motives, but on Thursday Carmelo Anthony came to Rose’s defense.  Anthony, who has missed 13 games this year due to various injuries, addressed the media before Thursday’s game against the Bulls and told reporters to let Rose do what he needs to do. “I wish y’all would stop rushing Derrick back,” Anthony said according to ESPN Chicago. “Please. He shouldn’t come back until he’s about 110 percent ready. I don’t think he should come back if he’s not ready to go out there and play. If he can’t compete at a high level, then what’s a couple more months going to do? What’s two more months going to do? I don’t think he should come back, and that’s just my opinion.” Melo’s opinion has now been heard, but he surely won’t have an effect on whether Rose comes back this year or not.  Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau reiterated on Thursday that Rose will return “whenever he’s ready.” Bulls guard Derrick Rose has missed the entire season due to a knee injury, and Bulls fans are getting impatient. HUH/ASSOCIATED PRESS The Knicks have had their own ACL injury to worry about this year.  Guard Iman Shumpert missed the first three months of the season after suffering a similar injury to Rose’s at almost the exact same time.  Shumpert has been playing for two months now while Rose has remained sidelined. So, while everyone is criticizing Rose for not coming back to help his team, at least he knows Carmelo Anthony is on his side.  However, Anthony’s motives are unclear as the Knicks and the Bulls could wind up playing each other in the first round of the playoffs. Despite the Knicks being 0-3 against the Bulls this year without Rose, there is no way Anthony wants to see the former MVP return to ruin the Knicks season.
