The Beard is greater than Melo. HOUSTON 109, NEW YORK 106 Best Boxes: James Harden was a game-time decision heading into Thursday's showdown with the Knicks. So of course the Beard blew up for 36 points (9-of-17 shots with two 3-pointers and a humongous 16-of-18 from the charity stripe), nine rebounds, two assists and a steal in 42 minutes. Lock him into your lineup until further notice. Carmelo Anthony scored 45 points (17-of-30 shooting with two 3-pointers and 9-of-11 freebies), grabbed 10 rebounds, dished four assists and blocked a shot. The Knicks still lost, and Melo has to be getting frustrated. Taking 30 shots is ridiculous, but fantasy owner won't be complaining.   Jeremy Lin keeps providing instant offense off the pine. In his previous two games, Lin scored 31 and 34 points. On Thursday, Linsanity went for 21 points (7-of-16 shooting with a three and six free throws made), five boards, three dimes and a steal in 30 minutes. Ride the hot streak while you can. Chandler Parsons chipped in 22 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shots, including two 3-pointers and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line, in addition to two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Andrea Bargnani's resurgence continued (24 points, three 3-pointers, four rebounds and a block). It's hard to trust him given his track record the last couple of years, but he appears to be back. As long as he's healthy, play him. Disappointing Lines: Dwight Howard followed up his big double-double with seven points (1-of-5 field goals, 5-of-8 free throws), 15 rebounds, four blocks and two assists. D12 shooting just five times seems ridiculous, especially with Melo taking 30 shots for the opposition. The much-hyped Patrick Beverley vanished again (five points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and a three). He's going to be inconsistent, especially with Lin rocking. The best shots J.R. Smith is taking are on Twitter these days. Smith made just 4-of-16 field goals, including two treys (and 5-of-7 throws), for 15 points. He did contribute eight boards, four assists, three steals and a block in 39 minutes. Iman Shumpert also struggled (1-of-4 for two points), but chipped in six rebounds, four assists and a steal in 30 minutes. Cut 'em: Metta World Peace turned in another dud (1-of-7 shooting for two points). Hold 'em: Terrence Jones' third start at power forward for the Rockets wasn't nearly as effective as his second. Jones finished with six points (2-of-5 shooting, 2-of-2 free throws), eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. I'd hold onto him unless you have other needs. Omer Asik was a DNP coach's decision, and he's unhappy. (He requested a trade and Houston has already denied it.)
