When LeBron James finally captured his first NBA title, he had finally overcame all of the pressure that was heaped on him. If you remember, when the Heat found themselves down 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, speculation was running rampant about the changes that would be made if the Big 3 failed to deliver a championship. We all know how it played out though as LeBron delivered one of the greatest performance I’ve ever seen in Game 6 with 45 points on the road in Boston, and ultimately went on to capture that coveted first ring. So naturally, once LeBron finally won a title immense pressure had to be shifted to another player who had yet to prove himself. New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has found himself making a first round exit in the playoffs 8 of his 9 seasons in the NBA. And while his Knicks are up 3-0 on the Boston Celtics, the call for Carmelo to make some real noise in the playoffs is louder than it has ever been in his career. But if you let Carmelo tell it, he isn’t even paying attention to the pressure. Per Newsday: Carmelo Anthony hasn’t shut off his phone or stopped tweeting the way LeBron James does in the playoffs. But Anthony has created his own way to lock in this season: He isn’t reading the papers or listening to sports talk radio at all. That’s been his policy all season because too much negativity “crept in” the previous two years. “I felt like I could just focus in on playing basketball and getting better and making my team better,” he said Saturday. “A lot of things throughout the course of a season are always said about this, about that. If you listen to it and you read it, the negativity could easily sink inside you.” He led the league in scoring and the Knicks to their first Atlantic Division title in 19 years. They are one win from advancing to the second round for the first time in 13 years. It would be the second time Anthony has gotten out of the first round in his 10-year career. “I told you from day one, I would not let any negativity in our locker room, around me, around as a unit. It’s been working,” he said. “This year was the first year where I really could focus on playing basketball and put everything else to the side.” Whatever ‘Melo needs to do to help himself is fine by me. The only thing that will shut the critics up is true success in the playoffs. If he ever wants to have the criticism be quieted, now is the time to act like it on the court.

Lebron James Continues To Take Efficiency To A New Level

In the NBA, the greats are always going to be compared to each other. While it can be simply unfair when you take a current player and compare them to 20 years ago, that does not stop the debates from happening. However, going off the numbers, Lebron James is showing the world a new level of smart, efficient basketball. In the first game of the NBA Playoffs, James put on a spectacular

James, Heat earn break with sweep of Bucks

MILWAUKEE In the end it probably won't really matter how the Miami Heat played Sunday afternoon in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals because they have a bigger prize in mind. If the Heat somehow lost to the Milwaukee Bucks, they more than likely would have closed out the series back home on Tuesday. But for the time being, Sunday's 88-77 victory gave Miami...

LeBron James says coming in second in DPOY voting to Marc Gasol "sucks"

LeBron James was not too happy about coming in second to Marc Gasol in this season’s Defensive Player of the Year voting, and he shouldn’t be.“It sucks,” James stated simply. Gasol had a solid season, and served as the anchor on a very good defensive unit. However his season stats of 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game were underwhelming, and considering his defensive prowess...

Fashion Glance: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James & more in spring Givenchy

Kobe Bryant appeared on the Lakers bench Sunday night in the third quarter. The goal of course was to provide moral support to a team that was clearly being swept out of the first round of the playoffs and not to make a sartorial statement in Givenchy and crutches but somehow, he managed to do both. Givenchy is the jock’s go to look of the moment. Last summer you saw LeBron James...

LeBron expresses frustration after losing Defensive Player of the Year award to Marc Gasol

LeBron is a true competitor to the very end. Dude doesn't want to lose anything, ever. Kinda like another current famous NBA player (hint, hint: Kobe)   One knock on LeBron James earlier in his career was that he focused more on individual goals like winning MVP and proving his worth to the media as opposed to winning a championship for the Cleveland Cavaliers and...

First Take named one of the 20 worst shows on television

Thankfully, we haven't heard too much noise lately from the Bristol underworld kingdom of First Take.  Tim Tebow's NFL career being on life support and the brilliant play of LeBron James have worked against two of the show's long-standing pillars - that Tebow is a winner and James is not.  Instead of building a show on a solid foundation of insight and analysis, ESPN...
