Amare Stoudemire played, but the Knicks lost anyways. The Boston Celtics took down their East Coast rivals 101-89 in a deciding Fame 4 of the opening round series.Kevin Garnett scored a team-high 26 points on 10-16 shooting. 20 of those came in the 2nd half, and #5 also grabbed 10 boards.
Rajon Rondo added 21 points and 12 assists and Ray Allen (14), Glen Davis (14), and Paul Pierce (13) all reached double-digits in the scoring column.
For New York, Carmelo Anthony lead all players with 32 points. Stoudemire contributed with with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Anthony Carter scored 11 on 5-7 shooting off the bench.
The Celtics led by six points after the 1st quarter, 17 after the 2nd quarter, and as many as 23 during the 3rd quarter. The Knicks showed some fight late in the game battling back. They posted up 34 points in the third frame and cut the deficit to 10.
An Anthony Carter jumper with 7:35 left in regulation brought New York to within four. Unfortunately for the Knickerbockers, that would be as close as they got. The Celtics held on and eventually prevailed 101-89.
With the win, the Celtics sweep the opening round series 4-0. They will face the winner of the Heat-76ers matchup in which Miami leads 3-1.
