So far the Celtics are better off than the Red Sox in their first 12 games. At 6-6 the Celtics are playing at .500, good enough for 3 games out of 4th place. The loss of Ray Allen was devastating to the team, but they still remain an offensive force. While Allen was a great offensive player and contributed to team chemistry, he was not a key cog in the green machine during his Boston tenure. The Celtics’ defense (or lack thereof) continues to plague the team. Most of their games are within 10 points, making their losses that much more devastating. The problem is not simply that the Celtics defense is bad; there are plenty of times where they have shut down opposing teams. The main problem is that when the defense is bad, it is really bad. Of their 12 games they have given up over 100 points to the opposing team 5 times—that’s a bit under half. They are 0-5 in all of those games by the way. So has Doc Rivers’ coaching suddenly become obsolete? No, but his team is quickly approaching that path. If the Celtics hope to turn things around (and they have plenty of time considering they are only 12 games into the season) then they need to get on the same page. Good teams are in sync with each other—they don’t play as individuals. From the starters to the bench players, the Celtics have to be on the same page if they want to transform into a winning team. With Allen gone the Celtics lost team chemistry, the question remains as to whether they can bounce back and center around a common goal or will flounder and continue to spiral downward in the standings. Going forward for the remainder of the month, the Celtics will face the Thunder, Magic, Nets, and Trailblazers, let’s see if they can grind it out and leave November with a winning record and stop the mediocrity in its tracks. Rajon Rondo and the C's setting historic pace

What Rondo has done so far this season has been nothing short of incredible By now it's pretty well known that Rajon Rondo is on a historic run in the assist department. In fact, if Rondo can pick up ten helpers tonight, it will mark the 37th consecutive game he has done so, tying him with John Stockton for the 2nd longest streak in NBA history. Impressive, but also not breaking...

Jason Terry Glides in Reebok Answer 4′s

Jason Terry wore a pair of retro Rebook Iverson Answer IV’s last night in the Celtics win over the Thunder. The Answer IV is the same model AI wore while stepping over Celtic’s coach Tyronn Lue in the 2001 playoffs. Terry has been doing a lot to bring “Reebok Back” in Boston. This colorway of the Answer IV release a few months back and sold out quickly. You can still...

Kenyan orphans reenact Celtics '87 playoffs game

Here's a nice video to warm your heart this holiday weekend. EK just shared it with me and I thought you all would like it. While I can't personally vouch for the charity (Just saw the video and haven't done any research, but appears pretty legit to me) I feel I should share their story that they attached to the video: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/bNnE3 More then...

Celtics Locker Room Video: Jeff Greens Says Beating His Old Team Means “Nothing”

After having his best night of the season and helping the Celtics beat the Thunder 108-100, Jeff Green said he was not motivated by the fact that he used to play for the Thunder. Jason Terry was another Celtic who had a big night, scoring 16 points wich included a huge three-pointer with 36 seconds [...]

Jameer Nelson Breaks Paul Pierce Ankle (Video)

Ouch Paul, very ouch.  One of the worst crossover broken ankles I've seen in a very long time.  Jameer Nelson made a little head fake on Paul last night and Pierce bit hard, really hard.  He fell strait backwards and his right leg bent behind him and got trapped under his body.  Pierce would stay in the game and end up dropping 23 points (Jameer had 20.)  The Celtics also...

Top Five Reasons Why Marcin Gortat to the Boston Celtics Makes No Sense

Follow Mike Macchi on Twitter The answer quite simply is NO! This is by no means a knock on Gortat and his game. Gortat is a very good complimentary player who has played very well in the role he has been asked to play in over the years, first with the Magic and now with [...]

Michael Finley Wants to Be Like Mike and Return to the NBA

If Michael Jordan can do it, why can't Michael Finley?  There are far too many reasons for me to name here.  However, that doesn't keep Finley from wanting to make a comeback.  The former Dallas Mavericks forward has been working with Mark Cuban in the team's front office, but he's been staying in shape and wants to play again. According to Marc Stein of ESPN...

Experience wins in Celtics OT win

Paul Pierce has done this a million times. Early in games, late in games, in the middle, it does not matter when. Pierce knows exactly how to finish things off and how to brush off any failures. When he stepped into a wide-open 3-pointer with 2:10 left in overtime to break a 108-108 tie, it was old hat for him. For the Magic, it is not quite second nature to win these close games...
