Found July 26, 2013 on NESN.com:
Most NBA draft picks spend the summer before their rookie year fighting to earn a roster spot on their respective teams, and while second-round pick Colton Iverson may have spent the past few months doing so, he’s not waiting around to learn of his fate. Iverson, who was drafted 53rd overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2013 NBA draft, has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Besiktas of the Turkish league, the team announced Friday. The deal allows Iverson to opt out after the first year, according to Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn. Iverson played for the Celtics in the Orlando Summer Pro League, averaging 5.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game.  The Celtics will still hold the draft rights to Iverson while he plays overseas. With Iverson gone, the Celtics now have 16 players under contract, one more than the allowed limit for the opening night roster. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge will have until Thursday to trim the roster to 15 players. Fi...

Nobody wants to trade for Jordan Crawford?!!!!!

Last week, our own Mark Vandeusen had this crazy idea that the Celtics should try to trade Jordan Crawford. Seems like it was a good one, as CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely's sources tell him that Danny Ainge could have the same thought. Jay King, MassLive.com: According to CSNNE.com, Jordan Crawford could be a casualty of the shooting guard depth. A. Sherrod Blakely reported...

Celtics Second-Round Pick Colton Iverson Agrees To Deal With Besitkas

Colton Iverson has signed a two-year contract with Turkish club Besitkas. Iverson was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 53d pick of last month’s draft. The Celtics still own the rights to Iverson, who averaged 5 points and 5.4 rebounds in five games at the Las Vegas summer league.

The quest to net redemption: the chronicles of Kris Humphries

Writing or talking about Kris Humphries as a member of the Boston Celtics still makes some uneasy and yet it seems unavoidable to study the basketball biography of the big man coming from Minnesota. Yes, we are going to talk about basketball and Humphries. I am not interested by any of the media exposure the guy has got himself into in the recent years. Heck, you could even get...

Inside the Mind of Bradley Stevens

Yesterday, Celtics head coach Bradley Stevens sat down with the Green Street podcast for a very insightful conversation on his mindset and tactics. Here are some of the most interesting takeaways from the interview. Being in the Moment: “My goal is to win the next game one possession at a time. That’s it. I don’t have any other goals. I’ve never been a goal guy. I didn’t...

"Tanks" for nothing Celtics Bandwagoner/BIEBs Fan

This column will be the last time I ever use the word “tank” in association with the Boston Celtics. I for one am sick and tired of hearing the “t” word used in regards to this storied and proud franchise.  Enough already! Or as one of my favorite movie characters “Lefty” would say “fuggetaboutit.” I’ve noticed that the “t” word is predominately used by younger...

Boston Celtics Star, Reggie Lewis, Died 20 Years Ago Today

A.B. ESPN Boston columnist, (and one of my favorite writers) Jackie MacMullan, wrote an awesome tribute yesterday remembering the life of Boston Celtics star, Reggie Lewis, who died during practice at the age of 27. The entire article is worth reading, but here are some of the highlights: By the time [Lewis] died, he was one of six players who, from 1988-93, posted at least 7,500...

Was It Really 20 Years Ago Today? The Death of Reggie Lewis

Imagine your favorite basketball player is Rajon Rondo.  You love absolutely everything about him from the thread-the-needle passes to the fact that his picture proudly graces the top of Celticslife (along with Larry Bird).  You're young and impressionable and Rajon can't do any wrong.  Now imagine, if on your birthday of all days, he suddenly dies.  How crushed would...

Celtics say season ticket sales still strong, but are they misleading?

From a Boston Globe article today by Baxter Holmes: According to Celtics president Rich Gotham, about 90 percent of the team’s season-ticket base from last season has re-upped for next season. “That number is a really strong number,” Gotham said Wednesday. “I think most teams in the NBA would kill for that kind of number.” That number is considered to be above the league...

Remembering Reggie: 1965-1993

On Sunday, July 28, CSNNE will air a documentary on the life of Reggie Lewis. For every fan that remembers the heartbreak of losing Reggie and for the fans who have just read about it, this will be a must watch. It's hard to believe that a generation of Celtics fans don't remember Reggie or the heartbreak of hearing the news that he died much too young. It was 20 years...

Welcome to the Keep Shav Crusade

At the end of last season when Doc finally gave into the Free Shav movement for the final 10 games, Shavlik Randolph grabbed every rebound in sight. The late season acquisition showed significant ability to rebound the basketball, grabbing 26.3% of all available defensive rebounds and 22.4% of all caroms overall. Those were the best numbers on the team, but mind you it was in small...

Celtics and Nets scheduled to meet in preseason, will it be Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce's return to Boston?

The Brooklyn Nets announced their upcoming preseason schedule yesterday, which includes two matchups with the Celtics.  Here's the graphic from their website: Obviously the game that stands out is October 23rd in Boston.  As I've discussed before, Pierce and Garnett's first game back is going to be an incredibly emotional experience.  If you're thinking it...

Gone Too Soon

On the verge of having Larry Bird pass him the torch to become the next leader of the Celtics, Reggie Lewis’s career and his life came to a tragic and abrupt end. In an article for espn.com, Jackie MacMullan discusses a game during the 1991 season, where Lewis went head-to-head with Michael Jordan and got the better of the games greatest player. Lewis blocked Jordan four times...

The Nets are coming to Boston… in the preseason

The Brooklyn Nets released their preseason schedule today and guess who’s on it? Yup, the Celtics will visit the Barclays Center on October 15. Brooklyn is scheduled to play at the Garden on October 23. Will KG and Paul Pierce really make their emotional return to Boston in the preseason? Don’t bet on it. ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg doubts either will make the trip. That...

Report: John Wall, Wizards Close On Five Year $80 Million Deal

Is John Wall a better player than Stephen Curry or Rajon Rondo? You might not think so, but the Wizards seem to believe that, and that’s what’s important.  Yahoo Sports is reporting that The Wizards and John Wall are close to agreeing to a five-year $80 million extension. Y! Sources: John Wall, Wizards progressing toward completion of 5 year, $80 million contract extension...
