Pro Sports Daily:
Boston Celtics veteran forward Paul Pierce isn't too concerned wih his sprained right ankle, which caused him to miss the remainder of the fourth quarter of Friday's lopsided loss to the Sacramento Kings.
"It’s a little sore, I just twisted it at the end," Pierce told ESPN Boston. "It should be fine, though. We'll see how it goes. It's sore, but hopefully it won't swell up on the plane."
Pierce stepped on the foot of Sacramento's Marcus Thornton while setting a screen. With the game's outcome no longer in doubt, Pierce departed to the locker room and did not return.
The 34-year-old Pierce and the Celtics won't have long to lick their wounds as they play the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
He is averaging 18.4 points and 5.1 assists this season.
BEST OF MAXIM
Paul Pierce told reporters today he doesn’t mind that his name was mentioned in seven million trade possibilities this week. He even would have been okay with being traded, so long as the deal helped the Celtics. (Paul Flannery Twitter)“If it was something that was going to better the Boston Celtics in the long run, I’d have been happy for them.”“They’ve done a lot...
Celtics swingman, Marquis Daniels is being listed as one of the most likely candidates to be waived in the next few days as a measure to open up roster spots for the Celtics. Daniels started the season off strong, but has since lost significant minutes and now hardly plays due to ineffectiveness. The Celtics are [...]
Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett joined an exclusive club during Saturday’s 98-91 loss to the Denver Nuggets.Garnett recorded his 5,000th career assist, placing him among 52 other players who have 5,000 assists, but also becoming just the third player to boast that total along with at least 20,000 points and 10,000 rebounds.Garnett, 36, joins Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar...
Early season first half woes have seemed come back. Struggling to score in the first half has led to awful results for Boston, as of late, as they lost another game tonight. This time the Denver Nuggets walked away with a 98-91 victory at the Pepsi Center.
Trying to play a different style of basketball never works. This is what happened in Sacramento and is continuing...
Saturday evening provided yet another dip in the green machine roller coaster. The Boston Celtics have lost their second straight game, after winning 8 of 10, following the all-star break. The long and athletic Denver Nuggets put the pressure on the Celtics early and often. Apparently, the high altitude of Denver did not help the [...]
The past month has brought a dozen different non-updates on Jermaine O’Neal’s wrist injury, each of which has been more vague than the last. The latest non-update is slightly more detailed, as Danny Ainge points out that O’Neal is still rehabbing and deciding whether he can return this season. (Boston Herald)“Not yet,” Ainge said yesterday when asked if O’Neal’s situation...
Larry Bird is not walking through that door. Jeff Green is not walking through that door. Hell, Jermaine O'neal and Chris Wilcox are not either for the rest of this season.
Nope, not him either.
The point? There will be no saviors coming to Boston this season. (excuse the overused door references)
Yes, Danny Ainge made calls and took calls to get help for the...
I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Sacramento.
Thornton was absolutely scorching. So many of his baskets came on catch-and-shoot opportunities where the ball was barely in his hands. But as soon as he let go, you felt like it was money.

Danny Ainge worked on a variety of trade scenarios both big and small, but was unable to execute a deal.
There has been a lot of trade talk recently and quite frankly I'm tired of it. From a business decision maybe some of these crazy ideas Ainge has in his head make sense. From a real person with a heart, it doesn't. Do the Celtics need a big man? Of course they do. But I'd rather see us go out in the second round with Rondo then go out in the second round with Gasol...
Jermaine O’Neal re-aggravated a wrist injury on Feb. 20. That’s almost a month ago. Since then, there hasn’t been a single real update to his status except, “Well, there’s a chance he gets season-ending surgery, but he also might just get a cortisone shot, but really, nobody knows anything for certain.”There was a rumor yesterday, from the highly reputable Adrian...
The Kings started this one off hot, building up a big lead early on against a road weary Celtics, utilizing their youth and athleticism, taking a 26-20 lead after one quarter. The Kings were able to force the ball to Demarcus Cousins while Marcus Thornton and Jason Thompson packed a scoring punch. Behind their captain [...]
After all the rumors that constantly swirled around Celtics Nation over the past few months, the Boston Celtics were unable to pull of any sort of deal before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. Ray Allen’s name was mentioned, team’s were interested in Paul Pierce but not interested enough to give up what the Celtics wanted in [...]
