CelticsLife Game Recap
I grade on a curve!
Kevin Garnett: 24 Points, 10 Rebounds
Kevin Garnett gave us a great performance tonight, and it was unfortunately wasted. He rebounded well, shot well, and was only slowed down by fouls/minutes. He got gassed at the end, and his last two fouls were stupid, but you can't really blame him for much tonight.
Not much to say except he stunk. I have no answers as to why he has regressed so much this year.
Paul Pierce: 12 Points, 6 Rebounds
Pierce was a liability on both sides of the ball tonight. He shot poorly and turned the ball over far too often, and he was absolutely abused by Josh Smith/Kyle Korver. Pierce is in a frustrating slump right now, and it is hard to see when or how it will end. But this is just some terrible basketball from Pierce.
Rajon Rondo: 16 Points, 11 Assists, 10 Rebounds
Rondo had a good game. The triple-doub...
BEST OF MAXIM
Danny Ainge is saying he hasn't decided what he's going to do with the Celtics. It was looking unlikely that the Celtics would be able to contend this season without a major trade. Now with Rajon Rondo out for the year Ainge has to decide whether adding a band aid for the season and hoping to make the 2nd round of the playoffs is the best strategy or if the team should go...
I did a little writing for The Classical series “Why We Watch,” focusing on Paul Pierce’s years of faking us all out. Here’s a little bit of it:
Your eyes tell you that Pierce is not doing those things. Even as he backpedals and blows kisses to the Madison Square Garden crowd after yet another masterful one-man Broadway show, your eyes tell you he’s not shooting as well...
IT'S A HONEY OF AN O
A surprising number of Cheerios-related items were confiscated by security during the Knicks-Celtics game in Boston, the first since the KG-Carmelo dustup.
Eastern Conference All-Star reserves: Chris Boshtrich, Tyson Chandler, Joakim Noah, Paul George, Luol Deng, Jrue Holiday, and Kyrie Irving will join Rondo, Wade, 'Melo, LeBron and KG who were voted as starters. I think many of us knew this was a distinct possibility. The Celtics record isn't really worthy of having 3 all-stars. That said, Paul Pierce's numbers are remarkably...

Pierce, Aging Celtics Continue The Slide With A Loss To The Knicks
by Nate Weitzer January 25, 2013
Knicks 89, Celtics 86
Gone are the days when Paul Pierce could dribble to his proverbial sweet spot and can game-winners whenever the Celtics needed him.
When the Celtics defeated the Lakers 112-107 in a regular season game during the 2000-01 season...
After losing their fifth straight against the New York Knicks, Rajon Ronsdo said an interesting thing in his post game interview, "Paul Pierce can't be the only one drawing fouls." Paul Pierce is considered to be Mr. Celtic; the lone active Celtic player to have more than a fleeting memory of Red Auerbach. Pierce cut his NBA teeth in the tradition of what it means...
The last time the Celtics and Knicks met, it was Kevin Garnett who may have needed some personal protection from Carmelo Anthony. This time, the New York star is ensuring his own safety.
Anthony will bring his own bodyguard with him for Thursday’s matchup at the TD Garden, according to the New York Daily News. The reasoning Anthony’s employing the extra security detail is not...
Paul Pierce hit a go-ahead jumper with 31 seconds left and the Boston Celtics beat the Miami Heat 100-98 in double overtime Sunday after learning that All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo was out for the season with a knee injury.
Rondo will have surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He was hurt late in Boston's 123-112 loss, also in two overtimes, to...
BOSTON -- The first meeting between Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett since their nasty encounter on Jan. 7 in New York turned into just another night of misery for the floundering Celtics. Anthony, suspended for a game for going out to the Boston bus after Garnett's alleged comments, scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the New York Knicks to a 89-86 victory...
Much better effort from the Celtics even if the result wasn't different. There is definitely something going on with Paul Pierce - just not playing well at all. The Knick fans weren't quite as bad as they usually are but as always, the stabbing jokes are disgusting. At least there weren't as many death and injury wishes as usual. And surprisingly, some Knicks...
Carmelo Anthony believes that he and Kevn Garnett’s altercation during (and after) the Knicks’ 102-96 loss to the Boston Celtics on January 7th at Madison Square Garden.
Garnett and Carmelo exchanged heated words involving Melo’s estranged wife, Alani “LaLa” Vasquez, and the popular cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios. The on-court altercation spilled over into the parking garage...
The Celtics are all to familiar with
the emotions of "a day at the park"
Being a Celtics fan for a season is almost like going to Six Flags, or any other amusement park, for the day. The anticipation to get there is unbearable and all you can do is sit and think about the possible outcomes of a day at the park. You finally get there and reality hits you, theres a lot of...
Thursday night is the first time Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks will see Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics since KG’s infamous “Cheerios” comments during their game at Madison Square Garden on January 7th. This time the game is in Boston, and despite Anthony and Garnett’s claims of their beef being resolved, Melo still isn’t taking chances with Celtics’ fans. That...
The Celtics clawed their way back from a 10-point deficit in the 4th quarter only to fumble the ball out of bounds on two critical possessions late in the game. It was those mental mistakes, courtesy Jason Terry and Paul Pierce, that cost them a chance at victory over the Knicks. The final score: NY 89 Bos 86.
The reason behind tonight’s loss was the shooting. The Celtics...
Well, that wasn't fun. It's becoming clear that the bench is finally coming around but now the starters are slumping. The second unit gave us that big lead in the second quarter and then it went away when the starters came back in. But there's progress. We at least got one great half of basketball. One thing that always strikes me is all the complaints...
