8 a.m. ET: The Raptors got a whole lot more interesting last week when the perennial Atlantic Division also-rans picked up Rudy Gay in a three-team trade with the Grizzlies and Pistons. They still sit comfortably outside the playoff picture — at 17-31, they are 7 1/2 games behind the Celtics in the race for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference — but they did begin Gay’s tenure by beating the Clippers and making things interesting for a while against the Heat. The Celtics (24-23) are more vulnerable than their four-game win streak suggests. They admitted after Sunday’s victory over the Clippers that they let up after building a large lead, the second time in as many games that they have done so. The Celtics were guilty of that toward the end of their last win streak, which grew to six games before the uninspired play translated into a six-game losing streak. The new-look Raptors are just dangerous enough to halt the Celtics’ momentum if Paul Pierce and company do not keep up a re...

Kevin Garnett scores 25,000th career point

Kevin Garnett became the 16th player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points Thursday night against the Lakers on a turnaround jumper in the second quarter. Garnett is the only player in league history to have 25,000 points, 10,000 boards, 5,000 assists and 1,500 blocks & steals.

Kevin Garnett Still Has No-Trade Clause, So Be Skeptical of ‘Reports’ About Celtics’ Trading Him

As a friendly reminder, Kevin Garnett still has a no-trade clause. This is not a complicated situation, really, which makes it rare in the world of NBA transactions — or in this case, non-transactions. As several reports noted last summer, Garnett secured his no-trade clause while taking a sizable pay cut, keeping him among a small minority of respected stars who cannot be dealt...

Kevin Garnett Scores 25,000th Point Of His Career

Kevin Garnett became only the 16th man in NBA history to have scored 25,000 points in his NBA career during the Celtics’ romp over the Lakers on Thursday night. Green Envy: What Raptors fans said - 2/6

After sifting through what the Raptors fans had to say while watching their team blow a 10 point 4th quarter lead tonight, I mostly just feel bad for them.  They clearly haven't had much of anything good to root for from this team, ever.  The recent acquisition of Rudy Gay seemed to have put some playoff dreams in their heads, which Boston apparently shattered this evening...

Warriors-Grizzlies Preview

The Memphis Grizzlies have struggled since dealing Rudy Gay. Perhaps surprisingly, though, his absence has seemingly taken a bigger toll on defense. The Grizzlies' defensive woes, however, pale in comparison to what the Golden State Warriors are experiencing. Both will try to avoid three-game losing streaks Friday night when they meet in Memphis. The Grizzlies (30-18) have...

Celtics deny any Garnett trade talks with Clippers

With the Clippers in Boston this weekend, Danny Ainge likely had a chance to talk face-to-face with Clippers brass. And the Clippers likely had the chance to inquire whether the Celtics might be interested in breaking up their core and improve their team firsthand. The rumor began filtering out shortly after Sunday's game between Los Angeles and Boston that the Clippers were...

Rumor: KG says no thanks to the Nuggets

Add the Denver Nuggets to the list of teams allegedly interested in the services of Kevin Garnett. But according to Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post – Garnett has no love for Denver: Kevin Garnett is everything the Nuggets need. Heck, his scowl alone is more intimidating in the post than all 21 feet of center on Denver’s roster. So what’s the problem with pushing the idea of...

Randolph, Grizzlies Going Nowhere

When the Memphis Grizzlies traded Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors, there were rumors that immediately started to swirl over the futures of just about everyone else on the team. Zach Randolph is one of the men that could be moved by the trade deadline.

Celtics Still Streaking, Top Raptors 99-95

On Wednesday night the Celtics played their first of two back-to-back games starting off on the road in Toronto. The Celtics came into the night looking for their fifth straight win, all coming after the loss of their All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. The Raptors made moves early this trade season and have a new look team led by former Memphis Grizzly, Rudy Gay. Rudy was involved...
