According to reports on RealGM, the Celtics have signed PF/C Shavlik Randolph to a 10 day contract.
Randolph has been out of the NBA since April of 2010, but has been playing in China and Puerto Rico. Randolph spent 3 seasons at Duke and then played in 95 games across five NBA seasons, with career averages of 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.2 MPG.
While those averages don't sound like much, Randolph seems to have come into his own in China this season, averaging 32.0 PPG, 14.6 RPG, while shooting 49.5% from the field in 28 games. Randolph had a notable performance this past season against soon to be new teammate, DJ White, who was then with the Shanghai Sharks, earlier this month, putting up 38 points (on 60% shooting) and 25 rebounds.
Randolph has already received his clearance letter from China and should be cleared to play for the Celtics this evening against the Warriors. With the signing of Randolph, the Celtics now have a full roster of 15 players. Three of those players are on 10-day contracts, however. Terrence Williams' deal is set to expire after tonight's game, while D.J. White and Randolph have until next weekend. The Celtics can sign each to a second 10 day contract or decide to sign them for the rest of the season or release them and look for someone else.
