It was preseason, the game went to triple-overtime, and his team lost, but still… 49 points is 49 points, and that’s how many former New Jersey Net and Milwaukee Buck Chris Douglas-Roberts scored in his first outing with the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League.  CDR joined up with the Legends after being waived by the Lakers and Mavericks during their respective training camps, and it appears as though he plans to waste no time in showing LA, Dallas, and the rest of the big league exactly what they’re missing out on.  Play the Youtube video below to watch the former collegiate teammate of Derrick Rose do his thing.  Always known for his ability to put the ball in the basket, Douglas-Roberts does so in a cornucopia (’tis the season!) of ways… Note: Durant, Oklahoma is named after Dixon Durant, A Choctaw Indian who lived in the 1800s. Well, that was pretty impressive!  With a respectable NBA average of 7.7 points (13.5 per 36) on 44% from the floor (20 mpg, 155 games played), one has to wonder how many more performances like this it’ll take to get CDR that coveted Gatorade call-up.  In the past, he’s admitted to bringing a questionable attitude to the table, but some time away from the glamorous NBA lifestyle has been known to work wonders on similar prospects (see: Green, Gerald).  You don’t have to watch CDR turn too many defenders into pretzels to recognize his gifts, and there are some struggling NBA offenses that could use an infusion of offense.  With a handful of 30-point games under his belt, Douglas-Roberts has already shown that he can do it in spurts.  Even if he remains an inconsistent performer, couldn’t the Wizards use a spurt? Just sayin’.
