Former Sixer Chris Webber, who returned to the NBA just a few short months ago with the Golden State Warriors, is about to call it a career. Webber, citing more problems with his injured knees, will announce his retirement at a press conference tomorrow afternoon. Webber hadn't played for three weeks, contemplating his future while struggling with his knee. Webber only played 9 games with the Warriors in his comeback attempt this season, and looked out of place in the Warriors run-and-gun offense, averaging only 3.9 points and 3.5 boards per game. As Webber's career comes to a close, it's unfortunate that the man who never won a championship will always be remembered for calling a timeout his team didn't have.

  • I knew this was coming because he has been dealing with his knee for years. I know this is not the way he wanted to leave but it was either now or later. He's had a great career with much to look forward to beyond basketball. He is a businessman and he is very involved with his organization. Best of luck C-Webb!

  • um no, the pistons didnt have a player that takes the most shots (i.e. iverson) or someone that the offense revolves around, they played team ball like the kings did.

  • This should serve as a lesson to professional athletes contemplating coming out of retirement. DON'T DO IT!!!! It never turns out well.

  • He was too slow anyway. He came back into the game for one more check and a last chance to rise to fame. I'm glad that he realized that it's not going to work! I think all of us did except the ones who let him sign that contract!

  • he had about a 4 year stretch that if he kept it up - he would have been a lock for the hall of fame, but his career is too checkered.

  • Uh Uh...not experiment!.....LOL I guess that's really what it was because they knew he had knee issues. And being that the Warrirors are a fast pace team anyone would have to be physicall capable to keep up with them. At least he gave it once last try.
