While it was reported on Wednesday that the Celtics were giving Houston Rockets free agent center Chuck Hayes a look, Chuck Hayes has apparently decided not to give the Celtics the time of day. (Fox Houston) Free agent forward Chuck Hayes has five teams expressing strong interest in him and his agent told FOX 26 Sports Hayes could be ready to make a decision by the weekend. "The teams that are involved with Chuck Hayes are the Portland Trailblazers, the Toronto Raptors, the Houston Rockets, the Sacramento Kings and the Minnesota Timberwolves," Calvin Andrews said. "That's our focus right now." This isn't exactly a debilitating loss for the Celtics, but it would have been nice to have been able to bring in a guy who can help on the boards. It isn't all bad though since Danny Ainge is supposedly pondering every free agent in the NBA right now. (h/t to Red's Army)

Boston Celtics will likely have mini mid-level exception, says Danny Ainge

Danny Ainge said during a press conference on Thursday that the Boston Celtics are likely to receive a mini mid-level exception, which is the smaller version of the exception afforded to tax-payers, rather than the full mid-level given to teams under the luxury tax.Obviously, that wouldn’t be good news. Source: Chris Paul won't sign a long-term deal with Boston

Well, I guess this squashes the entire conversation now. Right? Maybe, but remember that Kevin Garnett said for the longest time that he wouldn't come to Boston and sign on for the long term. That was until Kevin Garnett came to Boston and signed on for the long term. Anything is possible! Even if the Rondo-for-CP3 deal is dead, you can still expect to Rajon Rondo's...

Danny Ainge tried to get Perk back

I guess Danny Ainge realized he made a boo-boo. If you believe Chris Broussard (which I normally do), Ainge saw what the Kendrick Perkins trade did to his team last season, slammed his head on a table and then picked up the phone to call Oklahoma City in order to right a wrong—or admit that he had been taken to the cleaners by Sam Presti. (ESPN Boston) ESPN's Chris Broussard...
