SALT LAKE CITY, UT – If there was any remaining questions about whether or not the (13-6) Los Angeles Clippers are NBA title contenders, “Lob City”—courtesy of a rare and thrilling 107-105 win in Salt Lake City over the (12-8) Utah Jazz—it may be time to put the Clippers in the discussion of NBA title contender.
Led by point guard Chris Paul’s 34 points, 11 assists, power forward Blake Griffin’s 31 points, 14 assists and shooting guard Mo Williams 19 points off the bench, Los Angeles may have all of the right ingredients to be now considered for real.
Dismissed by critics as nothing more than a lob-happy, second-tier team playing in the shadow of the rival Lakers, “Lob City” would live up to its nickname from the opening tip, as Paul would lob a pass to Griffin, eight seconds into the game.
