Los Angles Clippers point guard Chris Paul underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Paul injured his thumb in Las Vegas while training with Team USA for the London Olympics. Despite the injury, he played well in the Olympics, averaging 8.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.5 steals.
Paul will be sidelined for eight weeks and may miss the Clippers opening game on Oct. 31 against Memphis.

The Los Angeles Clippers announced that All-Star point guard Chris Paul underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. The injury occurred last month during Team USA training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Shin, a hand specialist at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
