The Los Angeles Clippers have signed veteran forward Matt Barnes. The Clippers announced the deal Friday with the nine-year NBA veteran who spent the past two seasons down the hall at Staples Center with the Lakers. Barnes begins his second stint with the Clippers after playing 38 games for the club during the 2003-04 season. The well-traveled UCLA product has played for eight NBA teams, including all four California franchises. Barnes was the top-scoring reserve on the NBA's lowest-scoring bench last season, averaging 7.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Lakers. Barnes joins fellow Clippers newcomers Lamar Odom, Grant Hill, Jamal Crawford and Ronny Turiaf in a roster overhaul for a club coming off a second-round playoff appearance and just its second winning season in two decades.

Lakers Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Looking to Sign Leandro Barbosa, Should Consider Other Options

Despite the Lakers’ headline-grabbing offseason moves that put together the best starting five in the NBA, GM Mitch Kupchak is still busy solidifying a somewhat thin Lakers’ bench.  The Lakers are set at point guard, shooting guard, and power forward, not in terms of talent but in terms of players that have guaranteed roster spots. James Worthy not a fan of Dwight Howard

James Worthy, who announced his new role as the Los Angeles Lakers main studio analyst on Time Warner Cable SportsNet, says, "I wasn't a fan of Dwight Howard." Worthy says he likes players who just do their job, and didn't like how Howard handled the situation in Orlando.   "Who said this, I don't like this coach. To me, that's nonsense," Worthy...

Lakers have bad news about Howard

The Lakers say center Dwight Howard won't finish his rehabilitation from back surgery in time for the start of training camp or Los Angeles' first preseason game. The Lakers gave an update on the newly acquired center's condition on their website Thursday night. Dwight Howard Still Not Expected to Be Ready for Start of Lakers Camp

Dwight Howard still is not expected to be ready for the start of training camp. And, well, that is all. Howard, who joined the Lakers as part of a four-team trade last month, is rehabbing from surgery in April to address a herniated disk. At the time of the trade, it was reported that Howard would miss the start of the 2012-13 season. Since training camp happens before the season...

Kobe takes on homelessness

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Kobe Bryant admitted on Wednesday that he's been thinking about the inevitable. My career is winding down, Kobe said during his annual news conference at My Friend's Place, a shelter and education center for people who are currently homeless. Axe-Man: Want a 10-foot tall Steve Nash-themed guitar? Got $10,000? (photo)

Steve Nash always has been a beloved basketball player during his many stops on his NBA tour, and while it appears to only be a decorative piece as an accomplished professional musician would have to be 20-feet-tall to wield it and take it on a tour of his or her own, for$10,000, one of his [...]

Lakers confirm Dwight Howard won’t be ready for training camp or start of preseason

I’ve been voicing the same concern regarding Dwight Howard- whether it was Dwight with the Lakers or elsewhere – what’s up with his back? As expected, the Lakers had an evaluation of Howard at their facilities this week and confirmed that he will miss both training camp and preseason. But this shouldn’t be cause for [...]

Report: Los Angeles Clippers interested in Matt Barnes

The Lakers didn’t want him, the Knicks didn’t want him, heck most of the league hasn’t shown interest, but the other Los Angeles team has reportedly shown interest in Matt Barnes via Sam Amick. Yet Barnes may indeed be returning to Los Angeles — with the Clippers. Sources say the 32-year-old is strongly leaning [...]

Your Morning Dump… Could the Celtics be interested in Kenyon Martin?

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Meanwhile, the player who Barnes would essentially be replacing, Martin, remains unemployed despite his reputation as a tenacious defender and enforcer. He’s the sort of veteran that could come in handy for any...
