The Celtics played poor defense in the first half and couldn't hit a shot in the second half.  Seems like they can't play both offense and defense at the same time.   I disagree with the fan who said Doc should be on the hot seat.  He's proven that he's a good coach, although when the Celtics made their reputation on defense, it was Tom Thibodeau who was behind it, not Doc.  But still, Doc has proved that he can win.  I still have faith though that the Celtics are going to turn it around.  I've highlighted my favorites in bold.  What are yours?   No way we win this. Celtics are in serious trouble now and they wanna use this game as a rebirth. Well get ready for a rowdy BOS crowd that will be urging on a desparate Celtic team. Easy win. For them The Celtics are horrible. They can't rebound. They're not athletic. They're small. Unless they're outside shooting gets on track, I don't see how they beat us. They don't match up. ....and they're 17-times world champions including 2008! The horrific, anemic Grizz offense that allows other teams to stay close even though they don't match up because the Grizz cannot punish them and make them pay for not matching up. Add the intangibles of the parquet floor, the leprechaun and that rowdy Boston crowd that will fuel the desparate Celtics and the return of Rondo and you have all the ingredients of a BOS win. Pierce is like 80 and he is still better than Rudy. I was really looking forward to this game but lately both C's and Grizz have STUNK Boring atmosphere at the Garden… And there we go. The wide open 3 again. Guess we feel that Pierce really isnt that good of a shooter and will not hit those. Who the heck is guarding --or should I say--who the heck is assigned to watch Paul Pierce do anything he wants? Pierce will go for 40+ tonight. Pierce is on as well which really really sucks. I think I could drop 20 with Rudy playing his “I don’t have anything to prove” defense on me Which is uglier.... Rondo shooting a 3 or Tebow throwing a pass? Joakim Noah doing anything Tony doesn't hurt you in this game because of rondo and Avery not being scoring threats. Rudy just continues to leave PP. This time to help with Brandon freaking Bass. STUPID STUPID STUPID Rudy Why is everyone acting as if Paul Pierce never goes ISO against anyone or never hits these jumpers? He's one of the hardest players to guard in the whole league, he'd be doing these things against LeBron James, so cut Rudy abit of slack. When a 35 year old (going on 36) wing player has the ball against a 26 year old wing player who is 2 or 3 inches taller and teammates are screaming "ISO, ISO!"....this is a bad sign. The Celtics has been playing small almost the whole game with KG at the 5. We would be losing right now if BOS drained at least half of their open jumpers KG is playing really bad. Rondo shooting a three… Perfect ending there… Just wonder how that guy dropped 45 points on Miami last year. Boston seems trapped in no man's land This isn’t a team that can contend, but it’s not a terrible team to win a lottery (unless NBA rigs it of course). Makes me a little sad but then it doesn’t. Anyone who thinks Tony Allen's defense ain't all that great needs to be watching this game Boston's D is giving us this game If Rudy Gay runs under one more screen to give Pierce another open look at a 3 I’m gonna trade him myself! This game is reason alone to resign Tony Allen. I do not wanna face him on another team next year. We are so going to blow this lead I swear to God I was just thinking the same thing. Garnett who is missing EVERYTHING is gonna start making them in the 4th and PPierce and JETerry. LOL, I hate that I thought that. Maybe since I said it, it wont happen. BOS is playing small ball; I would not be surprised if they make a comeback because we know there is no way Hollins is going to adjust. Terry way too open. Glad he's clanking tonight. Doc rivers is a smart coach. Pressing to tire out mike. This Celtics squad is very mediocre. I'm glad Grizz have gotten a little separation, but I'm a little concerned with the way our starting 5 started out. Hahaha holy sh** KG is ANGRY Boston's giving us the ball back. We dont’ deserve another possession Zbo hasn't been able to get post position against KG. And this is why we're not a contender. Any other team would've wrapped this game up. But we just let teams back into it. Memphis-Where Choking happens. Poor defensive execution int he first half and poor offensive execution int he second half cost Boston the game I've seen enough of the Celtics to know that they're not good Celtics are painful to watch. They never sucked this hard. If the game of basketball could last 3 periods, the Grizz would be world beaters. As for the Celtics, Doc Rivers should be in the hot seat. This team has not an intense defense anymore… Rely too much on the 3’s and have lost 4 straight games by double digits. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Avery Bradley is the Boston Celtics spark

Avery Bradley returns on Wednesday for the Celtics and could be the spark they need The Boston Celtics are struggling in 2012-2013. As the schedule turns from 2012 to 2013, the Boston Celtics are two games below .500 and their troubles are highlighted by a post-Christmas west-coast swing where they lost three games to the Warriors, the Clippers and the Kings by an average of 21 points...

Bass back in the starting line-up, but don't worry, Collins will still get plenty of PT

Doc wants greater balance size wise, so the plan is to have KG and Bass start and then when KG goes to the bench, Collins will come in for him. To be quite honest, every minute that Jason Collins plays is a minute that the C's are doing the opposing team a solid. I do agree with Doc's decision to continue to keep KG's workload diminished in the regular season. Two things...

That’s Just Fab Being Fab: Ex-Orange Melo is the Butt of Jokes – Again

Nick Laham/Getty Images It took Fab Melo a grand total of six months on an NBA roster to be featured in a Deadspin article for his stupidity. And it’s probably surprising to many that it didn’t happen sooner. When the news first came out that Syracuse’s former brilliant Brazilian was called up from the Celtics’ D-League team, it sounded encouraging. But it turns out Melo...

Fab Melo Suffers Concussion From Bumping Head On Doorway

Celtics rookie Fab Melo suffered a concussion last weekend after bumping his head on the doorway in his Sioux Falls hotel room while the Maine Red Claws (Melo’s NBA Development League assignment) were in South Dakota for back-to-back games against the Skyforce. Melo was seen by the Red Claws medical staff and did not play in the team’s Monday afternoon game. On Wednesday, the...

Mike Petraglia offers to trade Kevin Garnett. Has it come to this?

When a team is struggling, it's only natural for its fans to demand trades. That I'm OK with. Now, since ESPN created Trade Machine, we've witnessed a myriad of stupid trades that would make sense for only one team that's involved, but you know what, that's OK too, because at least there was effort put in them to make the math work, because some people propose...

The Celtics aren't just as terrible as they were last year, they're worse

Something Mark pointed to in this post right here is how similar the Celtics record was to last year's. Really, it is strange how similar the two teams are, yet also how alarmingly different. A lot of Celtics fans are kind of hanging their hat on the flip switching the Celtics did at the end of the season last year. It's not a bad argument. They've done it before, they...

Boston Celtics Fab Melo gets a concussion running into a hotel door

For those of you waiver wire mavens out there, you might have seen that the Boston Celtics have recalled rookie Fab Melo from the NBDL's Maine Red Claws. The explanation was that Melo had suffered a concussion and needed to receive treatment for the injury. As you might have figured out from the title, Melo suffered the injury when he ran into a door according to the below tweet...

Gang Green 6.12… a.k.a. Welcome to communist Russia

The guys wore ties… Kurt compares the Celtics to communism… and Stats preaches patience in the latest episode of Gang Green TV.   There’s also the requisite trade speculation, Avery Bradley discussion, and even a Star Wars mention. Another great show from the guys…. and as an added bonus, here’s the show you didn’t see from before Christmas because… well… I’m the...

Fab Melo Suffers A Concussion, Doing What?!

Fab Melo is a huge prospect, with raw talent. Celtics had him doing development with the Red Claws. But earlier this week Melo suffered a concussion….walking into a doorway. Yup. Walked in a doorway in his hotel room down in South Dakota. *sigh* “I still have a little headache. Sometimes I can’t really focus on something for a long time, that’s it.” – Fab Melo

Rondo: “Our Trust Isn’t There”

The change is not lost on seventh-year Celtic Rajon Rondo. “We’re not playing it (defense),” the point guard said following the Celtics loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. “I don’t know (why). We’ve just got to try to take it one step at a time. It starts with me so I’ve just got to hold myself more accountable.” “Just our trust, our trust isn’t there...

Celtics-Grizzlies Live: Avery Bradley Makes Return as Rajon Rondo Remains Questionable Nursing Sore Hip, Thigh

8 a.m. ET: In keeping with the theme of this season, the Celtics took one step forward while taking one step backward on Tuesday. Avery Bradley confirmed that he is good to go for the game against the Grizzlies, making his first appearance since Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in Philadelphia. But his fellow starting guard, Rajon Rondo, is questionable as he continues...

Live Game Updates - Grizzlies @ Celtics

7:30: Well, tonight the Celtics will be forced to play the now proud Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies, who are 19-9, have oddsmakers favoring them by 2.5 points in this one. Memphis is not a great road team, as they are just 6-6 away from the FedEx Forum. The Celtics, who are just 14-16 overall, are 9-5 at the Garden but haven't won there since December 19. Tonight will feature...

Pacers get trounced by Celtics by missing everything

Yes, the Pacers got beaten pretty badly by the Celtics (94-75), but I wasn't too cut up about it. It was, honestly, just one of those games. The Celtics commentators will praise the Boston defense for holding the Pacers to 31.8% shooting, the truth is that the Pacers simply missed a lot of open shots. Nothing was falling. Not even the free throws. The Pacers actually executed...
