Found October 17, 2013 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Raptors fans were impressed with hometown product Kelly Olynyk who played very well in this game.  They were not quite as impressed with Jared Sullinger.  It seems as though the NBA community is split between feeling the Celtics are lottery bound and expecting them to make the playoffs.  Truth is, nobody really knows what to expect from this team.   One thing they know is that they'd rather have Stevens than Casey as a coach.  Enjoy today's comments..... I would be shocked if this wasn't a W. They played the nets down to the wire last night. Impressed they stayed close to Brooklyn all game. I'm curious to see how the Boston Tankics play this season. Rondo, Oly and a few others will be spared while others are dealt for picks, etc. They should be "back" in a few years when their players have matured. Only game this week unfortunately, a rematch against the Celtics... At least this time it's home commentary as opposed to Heinsohn The Celtics offense is disturbing to watch. Their interior D is puke-tastic.....They can #TankForParker. Not sure why the majority of the basketball community has written the Celtics off. The Celtic's interior d may be bad, but they still have one of the best perimeter defences, it's gonna be hard for them to bottom out without losing any veterans. Yeah, a core of Rondo/Bradley/Green/Wallace is decent enough to keep them out of the cellar, even competitive, but considering how young the frontcourt is I'm guessing at least a couple of those guys will be dealt. Another pointless game against a garbage team, and sadly we might even lose I hope we won't have to watch the Boston feed again. Listening to Tommy Heinsohn probably shaved off a good 5 years of my life already. Haha Fatty Gay was almost rim stuffed on that last dunk Sully in full chuck mode tonight Celts look like they didn't sleep last night... Olynytzki Marshon brooks looks baked Its pretty much our starters going against Boston's depth in this game. Olynyk is legit Olynyk is shredding us inside. Can't imagine how this lineup would get smashed in the reg. Season Olynyk is killing them. Kid has skills 12+pt lead turned into a 6 point deficit... With Boston missing its 3 best players Is it weird that I cannot tell the Celtics bench from their starters Olynyk's skillset is awesome, he's just gotta work on his defence and he'll be a good starting PF for years to come. Can we swap coaches.... Why all the Casey hate? He is a true Tank commander. You should be proud of his tank abilities Man Brad Stevens seems like the nicest guy in the world Are we playing Celtics' starters or bench? I am a little confused Crawford talking smack at our bench in a pre-season game? Wow, we really don't get respect, do we? We can't be a team that scrubs **** on. How are we going to out tank the Celtics? I really like what I'm seeing from Olynyk Damn, I forgot Abby Chin is on the Boston feed. Might have to switch. Did you know? The Toronto Raptors' star forward Austin Daye hasn't gained weight since the age of 12. It was also the last time he played any defense. - Marshon Brooks is playing terrible That #26 on Boston is really awful. He's like their version of Augustin I like how Faverani palms the ball before he takes fts. Olynyk is gonna be a good player in this league Wiggins is going to Boston. Look at their starting lineup. it's on par with our bench... And our bench is horrible. Lmao sullinger so fat and unathletic Either the Celtics or the lakers are getting wiggins. Mark my words! Did you guys know that Olynk's dad cut Steve Nash from the junior national team back in 93'. Celt's bench can't beat a wnba team. We gave Boston the game. They blew it with their key bench players Good thing Jordan Crawford is a scrub [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Kelly Olynyk Loaded With Pleasant Surprises for Celtics So Far in Preseason

The Celtics have not looked good this preseason. No amount of excusing-making about the games not counting or a new coach or a vastly revamped roster can make up for the fact that when the players have been on the floor, the results have been uneven at best. The Celtics have treated the first eight minutes of games as warm-up time, routinely falling behind by double digits before...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce bestows leadership upon Green and Bass

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce, now in the odd position of watching from the outside, wants to like what he sees. “They’ve got a lot of good young talent,” he said. “I’ve had a chance to watch them a couple of times on TV. Obviously...

Celtics’ MarShon Brooks’ Abilities Outweigh Jordan Crawford’s in Lengthy Starting Shooting Guard Battle

MarShon Brooks’ and Jordan Crawford’s skill set is as close as it gets. Brooks, who was acquired in the blockbuster trade this past summer, has played quality minutes when his number has been called, and the same can be said about Crawford. With that, let’s go inside Brooks’ and Crawford’s game and compare the two to determine who has advantage  to start on October 30...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are playing only 38 minutes of basketball

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  ”We have to become a 48-minute team instead of 38-minute team,” Stevens said. “We’re pretty good for 38 minutes. We have to maintain that focus and level of play through that.” On Wednesday, the Celtics...

The measured approach to Celtics improved rebounding

As Rasheed Wallace screamed so many times throughout his career, “Ball Don’t Lie.” I am hoping that Brad Stevens adopts and modifies that quote around stats, because stats don’t lie either. One of the holes in the Celtics’ game is rebounding and it has been for years. Under the Rivers regime, the Celtics finished in the bottom half of the league for rebounding six...

And featuring Danny Ainge as Jimmy Chitwood? Lebron as "The Jerk"

Photo courtesy of WEEI.com According to WEEI Green Street Blog Danny Ainge once let the actor who played the unforgettable Jimmy Chitwood role in Hoosiers, that, he (Ainge), wanted the role for himself in typical Danny Ainge fashion: “I loved the Boston Celtics,” Maris Valainis, the actor who played the iconic character, told the Beats & Eats podcast. “I remember we...

Kleiza Has No Interest In Ever Returning To NBA

Linas Kleiza signed with Fenerbahce Ulker in the offseason, returning to Europe after a four-year deal with the Toronto Raptors. Kleiza said he has no interest in returning to the NBA after being amnestied by the Toronto Raptors in July. Kleiza also talked about how there are only a few teams in the NBA that can win a championship.

Underrated Stat of the Night - Raptors 10/16

Despite having 6 out of their 11 players score in double digits tonight, the Celtics still lost their second straight game to the Raptors, 99-97. As I said in the updates, this defeat drops their record now to 1-5, something that even for the preseason looks ugly. On the bright side, most of those losses were really close, but a close loss still isn't a win. To me, the regular...

Will Jeff Green become "The Green Monster" or leave Celtic fans green with envy?

I've been waiting for the opportunity when I could begin referring to Jeff Green as "The Green Monster" on a regular basis. I have always been tantalized with Green's talent and this play from the preseason game against The Nets in Brooklyn illustrates why. I was also at this game in Phoenix against The Suns last season. Green totaled 31 points on 11-14 shooting...

Gerald Wallace Says He Was Scapegoat in Brooklyn, Says Nets ‘Had to Point the Finger at Somebody’

Gerald Wallace does not hold many tender feelings toward the previous stops in his NBA career. “I’ve got, like, four former teams,” Wallace said at practice earlier this week, before the Celtics played the Brooklyn Nets in a preseason game Tuesday. “So there ain’t no [added] motivation.” Wallace especially does not feel all warm and fuzzy about his most recent former...

At look at the Celtics preseason stats that stand out so far

Trying to make any real judgments based on four games of preseason basketball is a completely absurd thing to do.  But that doesn't mean we can't look at the numbers up to this point and take note of what's been happening. So far Jared Sullinger has clearly been the C's most effective player.  He's leading the team in both scoring and rebounding, putting...
