NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced today that he is taking a 20 percent cut from his $11 million salary as the league deals with the impact from the economic downturn. The league offered voluntary layoffs, and to date has had 169 personnel do so. The layoffs have come from holding such as NFL Films, which laid off 21 of its 283 employees in March, followed by the league seeking another 150 ?voluntary separations?. According to The AP, ?The NFL announced Dec. 9 it would reduce its staff of 1,100 by 10 to 15 percent. Seventy-six people took buyouts while 45 jobs were eliminated and 48 openings went unfilled.?
