Police are investigating a possible bias attack near Madison Square Garden after the New York Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of their playoff series on Sunday. Nick Porto and Kevin Atkins were attacked as they were walking arm in arm down Eighth Ave. near the arena when a group of Knicks fans approached the men and began using anti-gay slurs, said authorities. The four assailants — at least one of which was wearing a Carmelo Anthony jersey — started punching Porto, a Brooklyn fashion designer, in the face, breaking his nose, reports The New York Post. His 22-year-old-partner Atkins had his wrist broken in the attack. Both men were taken to Bellevue Hospital where they were treated and released. Porto wrote about the incident on his Facebook page with this photo. "My partner Kevin and I got jumped yesterday in broad daylight in midtown," Porto wrote. "A group of Knicks fans were upset about the game and they just decided to '*** bash' the two of us. They broke my nose and his wrist, and broke several hundreds of dollars worth of personal property." The attackers are described as males in their 20's and the NYPD released this photo of one suspect.
