Kobe
At some point in the near future the Los Angeles Lakers are going to have to start thinking about the next chapter; life after Kobe Bryant.  But could it happen prior to the next NBA season? Without a doubt Bryant is the current face of the franchise and despite being in his 16th NBA season he’s

  • That would be stupid to get rid of him right now. Its not him granted i know that he is getting older, but he has no offensive plays, its like they are playing street ball. So if they get rid of him some other team would be happy to pick him up.
  • It's obvious that BR is a Kobe hater... why would they have that God awful pic of him all the time?...lol....
  • BR, you are full of sh** as always. You have nothing to say on this blog, so you try to create some bull****. Kobe will retire as a Laker. And it's obvious that you don't like him, and that's fine, because he is very much loved by many. And to you, he is Mr. Bryant! Future Hall of Famer. What about you? Are you a Future Hall of Famer? I THINK NOT
  • Are you really serious?? Kobe is the Lakers! He is a very gifted player, the best. Please 33 years is not old. Look at Jason Kidd and Tim Duncan, to name a few. They are in their late thirties and going strong. Go Kobe!!!!!
  • 33 is not old, but he's an old 33. When you throw in all the playoffs, pre season games and olympics, Kobe has played 3 additional seasons, so he's really 36 in basketball years. Maybe 37, and that's very old. They should get rid of him now, while he's still got marketable skills.
  • I am not saying you're stupid, but you made a very stupid comment... How does whatever your definition of 33 legitimize itself? Wear and tear are the only factors you should paying attention to buddy, and last time I checked, he's still human, but does things most humans (including in the NBA) can't do.
  • they could if they wanted
  • As good as he is he may be forgotten easily by most. He's just not a likable person.
  • Kobe isn't going anywhere. He will retire a Laker.
  • One can only hope Kobe is a Laker for life. But when you consider he's the most valuable pawn money wise and when you consider Jim Buss, as I blogged on Fox, there is every chance this is Kobe's swan song with the Lakers.
  • not going anywhere....if the others don't pick it up, they coould be trade fodder.......lots of free agents
  • so i dont even care about this article or the bum lakers, i only clicked on this because kobe looks like an african jew in this pick haha
  • What they need to do is get some offensive weapons for him. Sure Artest could score some points, but he's too much of an on court risk. Pau and Bynum are 2 of the laziest ***** i've seen since Vlade Divac, get rid of them. Its a damned shame the NBA **** blocked the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. One can only imagine what could have been.
  • do not be stupid....never gonna happen......this is journalisim not a fiction paper rigght?
  • bad typist I am
  • The Lakers ran into a buzz saw this year, OKC had young legs and killed with mid range jumpers. Kobe wasn't the reason the Lakers got the boot, the Lakers did not have a consistant outside scorer, If they would have picked up Chris Paul the Lakers are still playing. I think they need a power forward and a point guard. Unless Bynum can continue to develop into a consistant 20 10 player in the postseason.
  • IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE KOBE???? LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HIM TO ME. IF THE LAKERS GET RID OF KOBE THEY CAN GUARNTEE THEMSELVES NEVER TO WIN ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP. YES KOBE DOES NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP. I DON'T CARE IF FISHER AND LAMAR ARE GETTING UP IN AGE I THINK THEY COULD HAVE STILL CONTRIBUTED. THEY TRADED SHANNON TOO ONE OF THE BEST 3 PT SHOOTERS IN THE LEAGUE. LOOK AT FISH STILL PLAYING.
  • The NBA does NOT work that way!...AT LEAST I HOPE NOT...David Stern refused to trade Chris Paul to the Lakers which would have given Kobe a chance this year! WHY?? Because Kobe IS undeniably one of the GREATEST PLAYERS; and remains so compelling, even at his age; that he can carry a whole team on his shoulders? Or was it all about HOW YOUNG CAN YOU GET before you FALL? Check yourselves Miami!! @Jardona...u have a good point or two left in you?!!! Cheers!! :)
  • GET RID OF KUPCHECK HE'S THE PROBLEM. BRING BACK A REAL GM (JERRY)
  • its real messed up if thay get rude of him because hes been with the lakers for 16 yrs hes the greatest players thay have tha neen to get rude of the new coach thay have because hes nothing like philia was and don t know the team that well and don t know the players either and truthfully he does not know what he is doing and i dont think that thay should get rude of him fisher or odom either ie been a laker fan since magic and i know my baskball to
  • Eastcoastdeb20, what school did you go to? I coouldn't for the hell of me grasp whatever you said. There's something called breaking up your sentences, so as to make sense.
  • What the Lakers should be doing is finding a real coach and get rid of that idiot they got right now. He ripped the team apart and still he thinks it was for the good of the franchise. Kobe is all the Lakers GOT and hi still has 5 to 7 yrs so yes eventually they are going to part ways but thats in the near future for the right now moment they need a coach.
  • The spurs will take him.
  • Even if they wanted to, they couldn't.
He makes 1/2 the salary cap.
He has a no trade contract.
The Collective Bargaining agreement prohibits taking voluntary pay cuts.
The Lakers are stuck in mediocrity until he retires, and then they will be the Bobcats.
They will trade Pau for crap this offseason to get closer to the luxury tax threshold. It is sad that the small market owners foisted this CBA on the team, but they did. Jack Nicolson will die before the Lakers win another championship ;-(
  • Who gives a ****?
  • Lakers ownerships/Management knows nothing nor cares about loyalty. Letting go of Horry and Fishers, the two guys that had major roles in Lakers last five championships. And guess what, these two guys went to other teams and helped knock the "Fakers" out the playoffs. How sweet is that? Remember the first departure of Fisher going to the Jazz? Lakers was begging him to come back, remember?

Dream Team Jam

This week, Kobe Bryant claimed his current US squad could beat the mythic 1992 Dream Team. Dream Teamer Charles Barkley doubts if most of this current crop would’ve even made it past tryouts in his heyday. Since the two teams can never meet in reality, they’ll have to settle for an old fashioned arcade throwdown. Gentlemen, step right up to Dick’s Dream Team Jam...

Kobe Bryant says Andrew Bynum has a ‘f*** it’ attitude

Andrew Bynum has somewhat of a bizarre attitude. That’s putting it nicely, because most people think it stinks. He has battled injuries for much of his young career, but there are a lot of people around the NBA who believe Bynum will never fulfill his potential because he lacks a winner’s mentality.  He seems to kind of let things roll right off his back, which can be beneficial...

Don't Write off Kobe Just Yet

2012 marked the first time in over a decade the majority of basketball fans agreed that Kobe Bryant was not one of the top two players in the world. Forced to rationalize that this was simply the beginning of the end of an era, attention shifted focus...
