Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

It hasn’t been such a fun week for Portland’s Damian Lillard.

After Tuesday night’s snub regarding a three-point record, Lillard is turning his attention to something all too familiar. He’s not happy about missing the previous two All-Star games. And he’s sick of it.

I’ve gotten frustrated just for the fact that it feels like I always got to be the fall guy and every other guy has been deserving.

But he doesn’t stop there. No matter the circumstances, Lillard always seems to be the odd man out. Additionally, he continues to notice.

In the past, the thing has been, ‘All right, my team has been 10 games under .500 or not in the playoffs.’ But every year we’ve found a way to be in the postseason. And this year I think we’re in much better position than we have been in the past two seasons that I didn’t make it. I think I’ve gotten over the emotional part of it the last few times that I didn’t make it. Now I’m kind of like expecting it to go that way, but I feel like I should be there.

Lillard currently ranks ninth in the league in scoring. He’s also seventh in free-throw percentage (91.4). But more than that, he’s one of just four players averaging 25 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. The other three players are Steph Curry, LeBron James and James Harden. That’s some pretty elite company.

And yet? Lillard is just a two-time All-Star. His last appearance would come in 2015. Where’s the respect?
