LAS VEGAS – Damion James twice underwent surgery on his right foot within his first two NBA seasons, but he’s felt fully healthy and has helped lead the Miami Heat’s summer league team with averages of about 10 points and five rebounds. James hasn’t discussed a training camp or regular season deal with the Heat, a league source told RealGM. Still, James, 25, knows the opportunity to play with them this month might have increased his value. “Everybody knows I belong in the league,” James told RealGM on Saturday. “I’m completely, 100 percent healthy. It’s been a great experience for me. I really look up to the Miami Heat and I really appreciate them for letting me come and be a part of their organization. I just want to show them that I can play, show them that I can belong here. “I broke my foot and now my foot is 100 percent, ready to go.” James, the 24th pick in the 2010 draft, averages 4.2 points and 3.5 rebounds over 34 games in the NBA. He played two games a season ago for the B...

Paul Pierce Calls Boston ‘First Girl (He Was) in Love With,’ Cries Whenever He Thinks of First Game Back

For Paul Pierce, being a Celtic was the NBA equivalent of his first love. He will never forget the feelings he had, and he feels a tinge of regret saying goodbye. Pierce wore his emotions on his sleeve during his introductory news conference with the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, expressing excitement for the coming season while exhibiting obvious disappointment over leaving the only...

Jason Terry already guaranteeing NBA Championship for Nets

It’s been less than 24 hours since Jason Terry has been formally introduced as a Brooklyn Net, but that’s not stopping “The Jet” from already making some bold guarantees. Yesterday while talking to Ryan Ruocco of ESPN New York 98.7 FM, Terry made some brash predictions, saying Deron Williams will be next seasons’ MVP. “I’m saying Deron Williams for MVP, with the...

Brooklyn Nets expect nothing less than championship

In a highly competitive 30-team association that is famous for making memories, a championship is a lot to ask for.  You can ask for any other Christmas present (league MVP, scoring title, etc.) but compared to an NBA Championship, it means nothing.  Before the 2010-2011 season, new owner Mikhail Prokhorov made a very bold statement regarding his expectations of his newly-invested...

Prokhorov Willing To Pay Record Luxury Tax Bill For Shot At Championship

Mikhail Prokhorov explained his willingness to shell out more than $100 million in player salaries for next season – a number that will trigger an NBA-record luxury tax bill of about $80 million. “When I bought the team, I promised to create a championship contender, a team worthy of Brooklyn,” said Prokhorov. “I’ll be proud when we win the championship. I am not a man...

Pierce recruits Garnett to Nets

Paul Pierce may have looked low-spirited during his introductory news conference Thursday in Brooklyn, but believe it or not, the former Celtics captain had to do some work to woo one of his Boston teammates and ultimately complete the trade that sent him to the Nets. Once Pierce realized that a deal was in the works to send him to Brooklyn and give him one last chance at a championship...

Paul Pierce Says He Spent Hours on Phone With Kevin Garnett Convincing Him to Join Nets

Paul Pierce may have looked low-spirited during his introductory news conference Thursday in Brooklyn, but believe it or not, the former Celtics captain had to do some work to woo one of his Boston teammates and ultimately complete the trade that sent him to the Nets. New Nets trio cranks up heat with trophy talk

The Nets have assembled a roster full of big names and expensive contracts. Now it’s up to the players to make it all work. That was the message repeated over and over again by Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry — the trio of veteran Celtics acquired in the blockbuster trade that was agreed to last month — during yesterday’s press conference at Barclays Center to...

Jason Terry: Deron Williams Will Win MVP, Nets Will Win Title Next Season

The Brooklyn Nets begun a new era, and with that comes some new-found confidence. The Nets had an introductory news conference for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry.   Terry of course is brash, full of confidence and always looking to make a splash. Yesterday while talking to Ryan Ruocco of ESPN New York 98.7 FM, Terry made some huge statements, and called Deron Williams...

Jason Terry: Brooklyn Nets will win championship, Deron Williams will be MVP

Jason Terry started drinking the Kool-Aid the moment he signed with the Boston Celtics, and it appears he is going to do the same with the Brooklyn Nets. The 35-year-old sharpshooter got a Celtics championship tattoo before he played a single game in green. Now that he has been traded to the Nets, he’s already [...]

Paul Pierce ready to be 'glorified role player' in Brooklyn

Paul Pierce had spent his entire NBA career with the Boston Celtics as their go-to player. Especially when Rajon Rondo went down during the 2012-2013 season. Now with Brooklyn, a team with many stars already in place that can help the Nets get over the hump and back into title contention, Pierce told the Boston Globe he's now a "glorified role player" and not the go...

Paul Pierce happy to be 'glorified role player' with Nets

There is an "I" in Paul Pierce but, when it comes to the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA star claims there won't be one there this season. If you look at the old version of the Nets, you might see an NBA squad already loaded with big names — up-and-coming Brook Lopez, one of the best shooting guards in Joe Johnson, and a top point guard in Deron Williams — and it might...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce, KG didn’t want to leave ‘Do behind

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  “This whole transition, man, we came in as strangers and bonded as brothers,” said Garnett, a person whom Rondo has previously suggested was his closest friend on the team. “And I say that with Glen [Davis...

Jason Terry: Deron Williams will Win MVP, Nets will Win Title This Season

I’ll be honest. I don’t know what the Brooklyn Nets will be this season. Usually I always have some kind of idea. There is your usual short-list of championship contenders, and then the rest of the pack in the NBA. The Brooklyn Nets TALENT wise, should be on the short-list of championship contenders. When we [...]
