"Because he's been with us all year, he was with us in the summer and all this year. Kris sort of knows where we are as an organization and he knows we like him. And he knows there is a lot of uncertainty, depending on which direction we choose to go this summer. None of us now.But he knows we like him, his coaches and teammates like him, we just can’t make any promises yet.”Bottom l...

Ainge: Kris Humphries 'knows that we like him'

Kris Humphries came to Boston in a trade finalized in July that sent future Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce out of town. Humphries had only played 18.3 minutes per game in 2012-13 with the Nets, and was coming off of his worst statistical year of his career since 2009-10. He was an afterthought in the minds of many Celtics fans. Yet this season, things have changed....

Celtics ownership key in rebuilding a contender

In another ranking series by ESPN. They picked the best owners in the NBA, and the Celtics are ranked 4th on their list. Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca have been visible owners, and I think the first time I really noticed them was in 2007, during KG's press conference. I knew of them, and when they bought the team. I just didn't focus on them as much as I should have. They...

Rajon Rondo says the Celtics "have everything to play for, we have pride"

It was an unacceptable loss by the Celtics, especially at home, with Rondo posting his 29th career triple-double. The 111-102 loss to the 76ers is a low of all lows. Especially following Boston's 118-92 beat down by the Wizards Wednesday. The 76ers recently ended a 26 game losing streak. They tied Cleveland for the worst losing streak in NBA history. Rondo said it best after...

Rondo on the Celtics embarrassing loss "Just a bad night "

There was a time during last nights first quarter, when Rajon Rondo took over when the Celtics were in the dumps. They were down 19-4, and Rondo made 5-of-8 in the first for 10 points. Rondo only scored 3 more points in Wednesday's game against the Wizards, and it just wasn't the Celtics night at all. Celtics.com"Just a bad night. There’s no excuses about what’s...

Rajon Rondo's film study dedication impresses Brad Stevens

It's been well documented with his analytics reputation and studious nature that Celtic coach Brad Stevens spends hour upon hour watching and breaking down game film.In fact, according to Baxter Holmes at the Boston Globe, after a game while the C's fly to their next destination on their charter flight Stevens face is illuminated by the computer screen while the majority...

Rajon Rondo, Celtics In Danger Of Straying From Course As End Of Season Nears

BOSTON — The best way to describe Rajon Rondo and Brad Stevens’ demeanors late Friday night was this: They boiled. After a dispiriting 111-102 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers that marked a new low point in the Boston Celtics’ season, the team’s captain and coach, respectively, demonstrated an outward calm while clearly simmering underneath. That much was clear after Stevens...

Rondo's first triple-double since his comeback, but the Celtics lose 111-102

Rondo's first tripl-double this year came in a loss. Can things get any worse this year? We lost to the second worst team in the NBA, at home. Rondo had 11 points, 16 assits, and 11 rebounds. On 4-of-7 shooting. Rondo's drives to the basket were great. And, honestly that's all I want to talk about from Boston's 111-102 loss. Bayless was solid again, with 23 points...

Celtics Jared Sullinger Comfortable And Confident In Boston

The Boston Celtics very big sophomore Jared Sullinger has become both comfortable and confident during a breakout season. “I think it is just being comfortable,” Sullinger said. “I learned a lot from these guys that are in the locker room and a lot from past guys that were in the locker room, just understanding that confidence is everything in this world.”

Brad Stevens Laments Lack Of Fight; Impressions From Celtics’ Loss To Wizards

With the playoffs long ago fading as a realistic possibility, the Boston Celtics started talking a month ago about playing the spoiler for playoff-bound teams. If they couldn’t take part in the tournament, they’d make sure they damaged some other teams’ postseason resumes. In the past week, they’ve failed to do even that. The Celtics ushered another opponent into the playoffs...

Brad Stevens: Marcin Gortat Sneaking Into Celtics Huddle ‘Not A Huge Concern’

BOSTON — Oftentimes, the things that draw the most attention on social media barely register with folks in the real world. So while Twitter went ablaze with jokes and chastisements of Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat, who sneaked into a Boston Celtics player huddle in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game, Celtics coach Brad Stevens didn’t even catch Gortat’s stunt...

Wizards’ Marcin Gortat Sneaks Into Celtics’ Huddle (GIF)

After a stoppage in play during Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics, veteran Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat crashed the opposition’s huddle for a brief moment and put his arm around Jared Sullinger and Rajon Rondo. The Celtics didn’t seem to care because no one told him to go away. Maybe they were just surprised, but it provided a pretty funny moment. Gortat...

Beaten: The short diary of a broken fan

I can see it in my periphery. At approximately 10 o’clock in my field of vision, what passes for an NBA game glows with enough force and volume to demand my attention from time to time. It doesn’t hold it, though. Not anymore. The din of commercials and sideline reporting is interrupted by the crack of ice warming as it swims in my bourbon. It reminds me to take another sip....
