PLAYERS: Danny Ainge
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
Although he is dealing with inflammation in his left foot that is still causing pain, Kevin Garnett should be returning soon.  At least if president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has a say, KG will be back.  Ainge said in a  recent radio interview that Garnett's two weeks off should be more than sufficient time for his injury to heal.According to Greg Payne of ESPN Boston, Ainge is not concerned about Garnett requiring surgery.  He says Garnett's injury is not as severe as the injury the perennial All-Star suffered in 2009.  In 2009, Garnett ended up requiring surgery. "What we're doing is we're doing what we think is best for KG's long-term health, and what's best for the team," Ainge said. "Usually it goes hand-in-hand, what's best for the player, and his future, is usually what's best for the team as well. But I don't know if KG could play tonight if tonight was a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. My guess is he probably could."Garnett has been nicked up a bit this season, but this injury is the first one all year to cause him to miss significant time.  He has managed to play through most of the other pain and still be productive.  However, this may be Garnett's last season, so it make sense that he would want to be as healthy as possible for the playoffs and for one final run if he chooses to retire.Garnett has averaged 14.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season.  The production, while solid, has been a significant drop-off verse his career numbers.  In his career, Garnett has averaged 19.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Pat Riley to Danny Ainge: 'STFU'

Danny Ainge recently said that LeBron needs to stop doing so much complaining, and that apparently did not sit well with Pat Riley, to say the least.

Ainge calls LeBron’s complaints about officiating “embarrassing”

You expect bloggers, fans and sports radio hosts to react to LeBron James’ whining about officiating. But an NBA general manager? Yesterday on WEEI, Danny Ainge joined the fray: “I think the referees got the calls right. I don’t think it was a hard foul,” Ainge said of the mixups involving James and Heinrich, as well as another one involving James and Taj Gibson. “I think...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Ainge/Riley feud is one step away from “Your momma” insults

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “Danny Ainge needs to shut the f— up and manage his own team,” Riley said in a statement issued by the team. “He was the biggest whiner going when he was playing and I know that because I coached against...

Danny Ainge: Kevin Garnett injury not a repeat of 2009

Danny Ainge joined WEEI on Thursday. In their weekly discussion, Ainge was asked about Kevin Garnett's health. "It's much better today than it was yesterday and I think he just could use some rest. On top of that, KG has just little nicks, bumps and bruises that could use some healing time. He's got a sore calf muscle as well. It's just good for him to take some...

Ainge called it “embarrassing” that James would complain about the calls. James used the criticism to continue...

In a recent interview on WEEI radio, Celtics GM, Danny Ainge, called LeBron James “almost embarrassing” for complaining about foul calls after Chicago snapped Miami’s 27-game winning streak. Heat President Pat Riley: “Danny Ainge Needs to Shut The F*ck Up”

I have always said that the Miami Heat are better when they embrace their inner nWo. Dwyane Wade is not afraid to be a bad guy and LeBron James has shown a little bit of his heel side coming out. So when Danny Ainge, GM of the rival Boston Celtics, decided to take a shot at LeBron for complaining about officials. Apparently, that comment rubbed Heat President Pat Riley wrong way...

Pat Riley Tells Danny Ainge To “STFU”

After the Chicago Bulls ended the Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak Wednesday night, LeBron James blasted the Bulls’ physical play, mostly in regards to hard fouls delivered by Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson: First of all, Kirk Hinrich in the first quarter basically grabbed me with two hands and brought me to the ground. The last one, Taj Gibson was able to collar me around my...

Pat Riley is not happy. On Thursday, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge let his feelings be known about LeBron James and his complaints about officiating. The New Age of Scouting

Despite the bitter playoff losses Celtics fans have suffered over the last 4 years, there's one thing we too often forget: this was only supposed to be a 3 year run. When Danny Ainge first assembled the Hall of Fame trio in Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, the sporting world erupted in excitement over the sweeping "all-in" move. Apparently sacrificing the...
