New Orleans Hornets rookie, and former Kentucky WIldcat Darius Miller has been named a finalist for the Kentucky Sportsman of the Year Award. Miller stayed with the Kentucky program through a rough patch with Billy Gillispie, gave up his starting spot, and was a huge experience factor for the ‘Cats to hang #8 last year. Darius Miller is from Mason County, Kentucky, a former Mr. Basketball, and won a state championship. One Lexington, KY writer believes he should have his jersey retired in Rupp Arena.
Miller will have some stiff competition to claim the award. The other finalists are: John Calipari, Anthony Davis, Randall Cobb, Dermontti Dawson, A’dia Mathies, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Teddy Bridgewater, and Tom Jurich.
