Whoops.
NBA Commissioner David Stern put his foot in his mouth right before the start of the 2012-13 NBA season Tuesday night.
He confused Hurricane Sandy — which crippled the East Coast this week — with Hurricane Katrina, the Category 5 storm that devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005.
Stern made the mistake right before the Miami Heat received their 2012 NBA championship rings in advance of the tipoff to the Heat vs. Boston Celtics game.
Stern, who retires in 2014, now has to endure a different kind of heat.
