Just as fans across the world got word that Chris Paul had been traded from the New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Lakers in a three-team deal with the Houston Rockets, news came hours later that commissioner David Stern had blocked the deal at the urging of NBA owners, according to Yahoo Sports.
ESPN’s Ric Bucher reports that the owners have vetoed the deal on the basis of conflicts of interest.
ESPN also reports that Chris Paul and union head Billy Hunter are exploring legal options against the league to try to push the trade through. Paul reportedly won’t show up at Hornets training camp when it opens Friday.
