How will Doc Rivers handle Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett the rest of the regular season?
Pierce is expected to play in Wednesday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, though he said he’ll discuss with head coach Doc Rivers the possibility of resting at times over the final five games of the regular season.
“I’m going to leave that up to coach,” Pierce said. “Maybe I’ll talk to him, talk about these last five games, depending on how my body feels, depending on the seeding situation we’re in. We’ll figure something out.”
Rivers told reporters he does have a plan in place for resting Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who returned to the lineup Sunday following an eight-game absence due to inflammation in his left ankle, before the end of the season, but he wasn’t willing to disclose any details. The Celtics currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference, and are 2½ games ahead of eighth-place Milwaukee. Rivers, while aware of the need to rest his veterans at times, doesn’t want to see his club drop

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers would prefer to have Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce at full strength, rather than see Boston go into the postseason as complete underdogs. With the health of their stars in question, though, the Celtics have some of the most intriguing NBA odds in the sportsbook.
In late January, superstar Rajon Rondo, undoubtedly the Celtics’ most valuable player...
Jeff Green and Paul Pierce have been working well together on offense.Doc Rivers recently told the media that during the playoffs, he is considering using a lineup that includes Paul Pierce and Jeff Green both starting at shooting guard and small forward. This was obviously a revelation, since what would presumably be the playoff starting lineup (Bradley-Pierce-Green-Bass-Garnett...
Kevin Garnett seemed pretty amped up to be back on the floor Sunday after missing eight games due to a bone spur in his foot.
Garnett hates it when he can't play, so much so that he won't even sit on the bench on nights he's sitting out because he wants to be on the court with his teammates so badly.
Judging from his latest quotes and his teammates love for him, Garnett...

“I think the reason people are going small is for the advantage, just trying to be quicker, trying to increase the pace,” Garnett said. “I think we’re doing the opposite. Obviously we’re still trying...
BOSTON — Brandon Bass has seldom had a play called for him in the NBA, and that is OK with him. The soft-spoken power forward usually has very little to say about himself or his team, whether after wins or losses, 20-point performances or forgettable duds, playoff games or preseason contests.
Bass’ play spoke for itself on Sunday — rather, it spoke for his teammates. By coming...

BOSTON — Kevin Garnett spoke in his usual monotone, steadily breaking down the reasons for the Celtics’ listless loss to the Nets on Wednesday. His reserved demeanor did not hide his disappointment, however, not so much with his teammates as with himself.
In his second game back after missing eight straight with soreness in his left foot, Garnett was clearly rusty. He missed...

The Celtics lost an ugly game against the Brooklyn Nets 101-93, but before the final buzzer went off, Kevin Garnett took it upon himself to let Kris Humphries know Boston does not care for him much.
With just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter there was a loose ball. Both Garnett and Humphries went for the ball and Humphries clearly had it. Garnett took the opportunity...
BOSTON — Back in uniform for the first time in more than two weeks, Kevin Garnett was far from at his best on Sunday.
Garnett labored at times against the Wizards, huffing and puffing his way along the court in the first half as the Celtics held a slim four-point lead going into the break. He found a second wind after halftime, going 3-for-4 from the field in the fourth quarter...
