PLAYERS: Doc Rivers
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
The Celtics have recently suffered from a lack of hustle, but that wasn’t what was plaguing them Thursday night. After the 89-86 loss to the Knicks, Doc Rivers took to the podium and actually praised his team’s overall effort, noting that if he see the same going forward the team should be alright. The comments were in stark contrast to the coach’s statements after Boston lost to the Pistons on Sunday, in which he noted that changes could be coming if the commitment didn’t improve. Nonetheless, questions remain about the Celtics’ willingness to compete night-in and night-out. Check out Rivers’ positive postgame comments in the video above.

Rajon Rondo poses as Doc Rivers in pre-game interview

Apparently Rondo was joking around with reporters as he posed as Doc Rivers for the pregame interview with the media. I think that's pretty hilarious, but not as great as the time he pretended to be Sasha Pavlovic. A. Sherrod Blakeley didn't think it was very funny, provided a transcript and stuck his nose up at a couple of Rondo's comments. I think Blakely's problem...

Vote: Should the Celtics Make a Blockbuster Trade Before the Trading Deadline?

When a team is struggling, it’s never too soon to start talking about trades. The Boston Celtics have struggled to find their rhythm this season and a frustrating first half has been the result. Currently riding a five-game losing streak, a change could be coming for the Celtics. On Sunday night, a furious Doc Rivers threatened major changes if things didn’t improve, sparking...

The last chance for the Boston Celtics

It’s the last chance for the Boston Celtics to establish themselves of the Eastern Conference Three weeks ago when the Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, it was seen as a turning point of the Boston Celtics season. It was the middle of six-game winning streak that reestablished the Celtics defensive swagger, none more evident than the game against...

Celtics are Running Out of Time and Options to End Skid

Doc Rivers has been unable to find the right ingredients for the 2012-’13 Boston Celtics. Should Danny Ainge dismantle the Boston Celtics roster? The Celtics are still searching for their identity halfway through the season. They are the losers of four straight games with three (New Orleans Hornets, Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland Cavaliers) of those defeats against teams who are...

Paul Pierce Left Off All-Star Team for First Time in Five Years, Celtics Coach Doc Rivers Cites Voting ‘By-Laws’ for Sub-.500 Teams

BOSTON — The last time Paul Pierce stayed home for NBA All-Star Weekend, the Celtics’ record made it difficult to whine about the snub. The Celtics went 24-58 in the last year of the pre-”New Big Three” era while Pierce, for the first time in his career, spent more than a month watching with major injury as his team give away game after game. There is no serious injury this...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Hawks 1/25

The Celtics deserve to be kicked out of the league at this point in time. They were put in a situation where if they just had the will to win they would've won. I don't know how they managed to blow this one. They didn't even try in the second half. This game was handed to them and I feel bad for Doc Rivers. Tonight's USOTN goes to the decent performance of Jason...

Boston Celtics Remain Consistent With Inconsistency in Four-Game Span

Photo by AP It seems as though the Boston Celtics are right where they started–square one. This season has been full of incomplete performances by Doc Rivers’ group, but especially when it comes to  Tuesday’s loss against Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers (11-32). Granted Irving did post a 40-point performance, but there should be no excuse for the players to display...

Kevin Garnett is frustrated with his play, says he needs to find more ways to help the team

Throughout the Celtics latest losing streak, there seems to be a lot of reflection going on within the team's locker room. A few days ago it was Doc Rivers questioning how bad the team 'wants it' and threatening to get rid of players if the team doesn't start winning. Last night Paul Pierce questioned the team's mental toughness. Among those currently in a state...

Doc Rivers, Heat Weigh In On Ray Allen’s Return To Boston

Ray Allen will return to TD Garden Sunday night for the first time since leaving his team of 5 years and joining the rival Miami Heat. While Allen thinks “once the dust settles” fans will be able to appreciate what he did for the Celtics, there’s a good chance he will not get a good reception when he returns to Boston to take on his former squad. Here’s what Doc and some...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are tuning out Doc

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. It’s practically inevitable in a sport where the average player owns a guaranteed contract worth twice that of his coach. There’s a reason Patriots players still fear Bill Belichick after 13 seasons, and there’s...

Boston Celtics Brandon Bass Shows Another Side of Him (Video)

Currently, Brandon Bass is trying to search his identity on the court with Doc Rivers’ team, his side job appears to be pretty successful with his great techniques on the mic. The Boston Celtics forward has took his talents to another spectrum, off the court in the rapping industry. The former LSU Tiger uses music to embrace what gift life has given him, and displaying lyrics is...

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Soaring low in Atlanta Doc Rivers has been notably down on his team as they have gone through this losing skid and the team has had to question its status as legitimate contenders.
