PLAYERS: Doc Rivers

You could tell during his introductory press conference in Brooklyn, that the thought of actually being traded by the Celtics was surreal, and actually sinking in. New Clippers head coach Doc Rivers thinks the move is good for Pierce, and he told Newsday “it could rejuvenate him.” “I think in some ways, it may give him more life,” Rivers said Friday after being honored with a Sports Pioneer award at the National Association of Black Journalists convention. “But I just think it’s tough for him personally. Like he said in the press conference, he wanted to stay and wasn’t allowed to, and that’s tough for him.” Pierce should definitely benefit from not being the guy, and actually being able to just play.

Doc Rivers thinks trade to Brooklyn could rejuvenate Paul Pierce

Doc Rivers could tell Paul Pierce was emotionally hurt trying to come to grips with the notion that he no longer was wanted in Boston.
