I know the Bulls story of the day has nothing to do with Tyrus Thomas. The Bulls lost a double overtime thriller last night to Miami, but I don't feel like talking about that. While I was feeling miserable about the game last night, I decided to look at the box score and I noticed Tyrus had taken only 5 shots. I didn't really remember any beyond the big putback slam, so I looked at his shot chart, and lo and behold, 1-4 on mid-range jumpers. While Tyrus has clearly worked on his jumper, it just has not developed into the weapon it needs to be for him to be effective. We all want him to be able to knock it down, since that will theoretically cause defenders to close out on him, allowing him to attack the basket and score more on ferocious dunks and easy layups. Unfortunately he has to make the jumpers for the defenders to start D-ing him up. In that respect, he has been sorely lacking. This is a Hot Spot chart from NBA.com. It's not a pretty picture ...
