The New York Knicks have looked very impressive so far this season, as they remain as the only undefeated team in the league right now standing at 4-0.
The Knicks were able to get a victory over the Dallas Mavericks Friday night, 104-94, and many people are starting to take notice of how great this team can become right now.
“They are a very good team,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said, according to NJ.com. “They are one of a handful of teams… that have a chance to come out of the East.”
It’s surprising to see, as they are doing all of this even without one of their most key players with Amar’e Stoudemire, who is currently sitting out for a few weeks with injury. But so far, this team has looked solid, as Carmelo Anthony continues to show each game that he is a top-five caliber star in this league.
Overall, the Knicks are finally playing like a team now, something we didn’t see at all last season. The Knicks showed their big test recently when they destroyed the Miami Heat, their first game returning from the big Hurricane Sandy incident. And now, they are sitting at the top of the NBA.
Could they top the Heat this season? Head coach Doug Collins thinks they probably can, as his Philadelphia 76ers already have taken two losses from the Knicks already this season. If the Heat are the No. 1 team in the league right now, being defending-champions, the Knicks are 1A, according to Collins.
“I’m not going to overreact to two losses to New York, because I think right now, arguably they could be playing as well as anybody in the East,” Collins said. “If Miami is 1, then they’re 1A. They played great against us on both ends of the floor.”
The Knicks look to go 5-0 when they have their next game on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic on the road.
