Entering tonight's San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets game, which tips off in about 30 minutes, there's not much these teams don't know about each other.
If it wasn't enough that they share the me state and Interstate 10, tonight's game will be the sixth time these teams have seen each other, including two preseason games.
"Well as far as we don't have to play them again," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "If we play them ten more times, we'd get even more recall."
While Houston is 2-1 in the regular season series, this is hardly a cake walk for the Rockets, backup point guard and former Spurs draft pick Goran Dragic said before the game.
"They've had some good games and it's tough to play against San Antonio," Dragic said. "They are a very good team, especially their home games are very tough for us."
Dragic also noted that he was one of many that expected the Spurs to go downhill quick once Manu Gi...

Karl Malone: First choice was Spurs, not Lakers
Ask San Antonio Spurs fans which current or former players they hate the most, and there's no doubt Karl Malone is very high on that list.
Aside from being a Western Conference rival and playoffs roadblock, it took little more than one swift elbow to David Robinson's head to keep him on their "hated" list.
With that in mind, Spurs fans would be interested...
Houston Rockets: What Is Wrong With Kyle Lowry?
Kyle Lowry has made 13 of his last 52 shots. This is important because Lowry is a potential All-Star, the best overall player on the Houston Rockets (12-9), and likely the key to a playoff appearance for the franchise after a two-year drought. He averages around 15 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and two steals per contest. Lowry flirts with triple-doubles like MJ flirts with...
NBA's Lowry takes plea in Vegas misdemeanor case
A lawyer entered a no contest plea for Kyle Lowry in a bid for dismissal of a misdemeanor battery case alleging the Houston Rockets guard threw a basketball at a female referee and threatened her during a game at a Las Vegas gym last September.
A court clerk says the 25-year-old Lowry didn't appear Thursday with his lawyer, Patrick McDonald, before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace...
Spurs G Ginobili nearing return from broken finger
San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili had his post-surgery splint removed and is back practicing with the team, according to the San Antonio Express-News.The 34-year-old broke his left pinkie finger in a game on Jan. 2, against the Minnesota Timberwolves and was initially thought to miss 6-8 weeks."He's shooting mid-range shots...he'll be cleared to go one-on-one in...
Ginobili tweets some good news
It’s been almost a month since Manu Ginobili broke his hand. Since then, the San Antonio Spurs have been playing admirably, sitting at 13-9, and a game behind Dallas in the Southwest division. While it has been great to see some other Spurs step up in his absence, I think the fans are ready to have their Argentinian superstar back, and we may be getting close.
This is some great...
Parker loves to roll with Splitter
Though it’s a condensed season, I have the privilege of covering the San Antonio Spurs’ home games here at Project Spurs.
While attending home games, I began to notice themes game-by-game. One theme I’ve noticed is the chemistry between two former European players currently producing with the pick-and-roll on offense for the Spurs -- Tony Parker and Tiago Splitter.
When Parker...
5 things to watch for in tonight's Spurs vs. Rockets matchup
The San Antonio Spurs (13-9) will host the Houston Rockets (12-9) tonight in the AT&T Center which will mark the last time these two Texas teams will face off this season. The Rockets hold the season series lead at 2-1, and the Spurs need to get the win to tie up the series especially if these two team meet in the playoffs.

Tale of Two Halves
There was some drama in Rockets practice on Tuesday after their embarrassing loss to Minnesota Monday night. Kyle Lowry was questioning coaching decisions, Kevin McHale was calling out his team’s effort in the game (which did seem nonexistent at some points), and Luis Scola had an answer for everybody, “Shut the …. up and play!”
The Rockets did just that to start their...
Spurs overcome slow 1st half, beat Hornets
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan scored 19 points, Tony Parker had 18 and the San Antonio Spurs won their third in a row, beating the New Orleans Hornets 93-83 Thursday night.
A night after Duncan scored 25 in a win over Houston, it was somewhat surprising that he even played. Coach Gregg Popovich has vowed to limit the 35-year-old's minutes and playing the West's worst team...
Spurs Overcome Deficit to Rally to Victory (Finally!)
Wednesday night’s game against the Houston Rockets looked like more bad news for the Spurs. After the first quarter they were trailing the Rockets 27-16. At halftime they were down 52-39. Instead of succumbing to pressure and falling even more in a hole, the Spurs outscored the Rockets 28-19 in the third quarter and 32-20 in the first, overcoming an 18 point deficit.
