It’s not often that you see a 50 point game in the NBA. These days, 40 point games come and go. A triple-double happens every now and then. Well on Sunday Feb. 19 the Oklahoma City Thunder had all three of these achievements happen in a 124-118 overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets. Kevin Durant led the way with 51 points, on a staggering 19-of-28 shooting performance, including 5-of-6 from behind the three point line, 8-of-1o from the free throw line and the game tying dunk to force overtime. Durant also grabbed eight rebounds. Durant’s partner in crime, Russell Westbrook, went for 40 points on 16-of-29 from the field, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Westbrook also distributed the ball well, contributing nine dimes. And to cap of the historic night, Serge Ibaka messed around and got a triple-double, the first in Supersonics/Thunder franchise history.
