After it came to light that the doctors had clear Dwight to play and he has chose not to, he is trying to do damage control on the situation.
He feels like he shouldn’t be talked about in the media by coaches and teammates.
“Hopefully they’ll start supporting me the way they need to,” Howard said. “Until then, I’m going to continue to do whatever I can to help our team win.
“I can’t get involved with what they’ve been saying to the media. I understand they’ve been saying certain things, but I know my health. I haven’t been cleared for weeks to play. This is my body, and I have to control my body and my future and my career. So I can’t worry about anybody else.”
Dwight isn’t built for Lakers spotlight, he is too sensitive and like Kobe said he cares too much about what other people think about him.
The Lakers have to consider trading him before he walks away as a free agent to a team that will allow his clown act.

By all means, Dad, defend this
It's hard to imagine that Dwight Howard could have sunk any lower in the eyes of the public after last year's do se do with Orlando, but oh, man alive, has he fallen off a cliff or what?Start with on the court, where the slash line of 16/12/2/2/1 (points, boards, assists, blocks, steals) is, well, the worst he's done since his second year...
In Dwight Howard's mind, the support level from his Los Angeles Lakers has been lacking.
MIAMI -- The dust certainly didn't settle after the Lakers eked out a win against the lowly Charlotte Bobcats, not when Dwight Howard's father injected himself into his son's awkward relationship with Kobe Bryant.
The elder Howard said his son needed to sit down with Bryant to hash out their differences. He also said Coach Mike D'Antoni wasn't being assertive...
Dwight Howard said that he will not put his career at undue risk to save the Lakers' season.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had their fair share of issues this season. While their injuries and inconsistent play have led to a multitude of questions about the team that have largely gone unanswered, it seems an unlikely source – Dwight Howard‘s father — has at least one answer to their latest controversy.
After Kobe Bryant demanded some urgency from his injured teammate...
Hakeem Olajuwon is sticking with his belief Dwight Howard will re-sign this summer with the Los Angeles Lakers. If Howard is thinking differently, Olajuwon figures Howard will let him know.
In a phone interview with FOX Sports Florida, Olajuwon, a Hall of Fame center, said Howard told him in the summer of 2011 he wanted out of Orlando after eight seasons primarily due to how he...
Hakeem Olajuwon thinks Dwight Howard will re-sign with the Lakers this summer.
The Lakers took a huge hit on their road trip back to respectability Thursday night in Boston, losing to their hated rivals 116-95. And head coach Mike DAntoni threw himself directly into the Dwight Howard injury controversy, saying that Howard could have played in any of the last three games he missed with an injured shoulder.
Hes been cleared (to play) for a while, DAntoni told...
