Free agent center Dwight Howard has decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers and join the Houston Rockets. Reports said Howard never felt comfortable in LA playing for coach Mike D’Antoni and teammate Kobe Bryant. Daryl Morey, general manager of the Rockets, said his team could become an instant contender with Howard in the lineup and he was also happy that his new acquisition left behind an offer of more money to sign with his club. Howard said he decided to take up Houston’s offer because the feels it’s the best place for him to play. He added that he’s excited about the move and is already looking forward to the 2013/14 NBA season. Howard could have pocketed $30 million more if he stayed with the Lakers, but he’s not overly excited about D’Antoni’s style of offense. Howard will team up with the Rockets’ all-star James Harden and the pair should be able to provide the team with a strong inside-outside combination.
