Found October 31, 2012 on Extra Pine Tar:
KG is all washed up. Rondo is a cancer and needs to be traded. Leondro Barbosa is the best 4th quarter player in the history of the game. Ray Allen will make the Celtics rue the day they let him go. LeBron James needs to drink more Gatorade if the Heat hope to make it back to the finals. All these ridiculous headlines need is a “why” in front of them and a slideshow. Then they would fit right in on the Bleacher Report. In an undying quest to not give in to the 24 hour news cycle, where ******** content isn’t as much of an issue as making sure that people click through on your article, why don’t we try to look at the Celtics from a perspective that doesn’t involve rash judgments and ridiculous theories? Instead, let’s give basketball knowledge and an understanding of the trends of the league, and its players, a try. Isn’t that a novel idea? For instance, Leondro Barbosa went bonkers last night on the reigning NBA champions (most of it with LeBron off the court). Does that suddenly make him anything more than a role player that the Celtics will need if they are going to make it through the grueling 82 game schedule and hopeful playoff run? No, but it probably means that he finally got himself in to shape and can seriously help the Celtics with depth in the backcourt. There are a lot of knee jerk reactions that could be taken from watching the Celtics basically hand Miami the game last night, and I do mean literally hand it to them (the C’s doubled Miami’s turnovers (16 to eight) and looked completely out of sync all night on both ends of the court). While you should avoid the complete overreaction, there is nothing wrong with talking about what went wrong. Jason Terry and Jeff Green looked completely lost, Jared Sullinger couldn’t get on the court, KG looked old, Ray Allen’s ankle suddenly seemed magically healed, there was no answer for LeBron and Wade; the list could go on and on. But I don’t see a point in doing that. I would much rather focus on some things that I don’t want Celtics fans to forget over what may be another up an down season where most will write the Celtics off and say that the window has closed. Rajon Rondo is the right player for this team I don’t care what anybody says or how many technical fouls he gets – he is the best point guard for this team and one of the best in the league. The close line he layed on Wade last night was a mixture of frustration and retaliation, and honestly I have no problem with it. Send a message to the Heat that we aren’t going to take your whining and hooking. Just because the refs didn’t call it, doesn’t mean that Wade didn’t neck rake him out of the way while driving to the basket for a lay up earlier in the game. Rondo can be mercurial to say the least, but he knows what it takes to win and, more importantly, what it takes to beat the Heat. This is Rondo’s team now, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Doc Rivers is going to make this work There were stretches of the game last night where it seemed like half the players on the court had no idea where to be or what to do. Most likely, that was because half of the players on the court weren’t there last season. The Celtics have a lot of new faces that’s for sure, but I can’t think of a coach that I would rather have. Doc is going to get these guys to play together as a team. The same way he’s done since he got here. First, and last, he will preach defense to them. Forcing the players to buy in, or simply phasing them out of the rotation. The depth the Celtics have will allow them to come up with multiple rotations of players, allowing Rondo the opportunity to run to his hearts content. Still, up tempo basketball is only effective if you stop the other team from scoring. Otherwise you get in to a high scoring affair and that is not Celtics basketball. Once the new players carve out roles on this team things will start to be a little more cohesive. I highly doubt that you will see three players standing in the same corner the way we did last night. The “bunch” offense doesn’t tend to work after biddy basketball. Every team in the NBA has a run in them I believe this will one day be on my gravestone when I die. Seriously, I say this ad neasuem to anyone who will listen. The NBA, more so than any other professional sports league, is all about getting hot at the right time. Whether that’s in a game, or over the course of a season, it only takes one good stretch. It’s how the Celtics went from 2 games below .500 at the All Star break last year to within one half of going to the NBA finals. Consequently, it’s also how the Heat – and Lebron – went from choke artists to NBA champions. ****, the Celtics almost came back last night. In a game that the they had no business being in, Boston was one missed Rondo jumper from being down 4 with 1:30 left. So whenever it seems that the Celtics are out of it, or that they aren’t one of the elite teams in the NBA, I want you to remember what I’m telling you here. Every NBA team has a run in them.

Rondo poses with girl in anti-LeBron shirt

This may or may not be real, but it's funny regardless. From thebiglead.com who got it from lobshots.com. My money is on real.  I've already seen Rajon autograph a baby this week, and I know you can buy that shirt outside the Garden after games. Follow Mark on twitter @LucidSportsFan

On this day- Rajon Rondo gets career high 24 assists

ESPN Boxscore On this day today (October 29th in 2010), Rajon Rondo had the second most assists in a game ever by a Celtic with 24 (Bob Cousy had 28 in a game in 1959), in a win over the New York Knicks. Rondo had a triple double (10 rebounds and 10 points) and he also had as many assists as the entire opposing Knicks team. One of his better performances. Do you remember this? This...

Rajon Rondo takes picture with girl in ‘LeBron is a ******** shirt

Looks like that Boston Celtics-Miami Heat tense rivalry just got taken up a notch. Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo had an autograph signing in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, last week, and while he was there, he took a picture with a female fan who was wearing a “LeBron is a ******** T-shirt. There were plenty of questions on the ‘net about the authenticity of the shirt, but a second...

Your Morning Dump… Where Legler has no problem with Rondo’s hard foul on Wade

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Much of the talk about Tuesday night centered on Rajon Rondo’s flagrant foul on Dwyane Wade in the closing seconds of the game. Legler did not have an issue with the play. Said Legler: “I look at it as a guy...

Celtics' Heat hatred not all about Allen

MIAMI -- Boston guard Rajon Rondo took out a Miami player. But it wasn't who you thought it might be. It wasn't Ray Allen, believed to be a traitor by some up north for bolting the Celtics last summer to join the Heat as a free agent. It was guard Dwyane Wade, who called Rondo a "punk" for clotheslining him in the final minute of Miami's 120-107 opening-night...
FAMILY MATTERS

Ray Allen's mom still loves C's

Ray Allen's mom says she still has love for the Celtics players even though her son is now with the rival Miami Heat after five seasons spent with Boston.

Kevin Garnett Doesn’t Acknowledge Ray Allen

Cold shoulder?

Ray Allen's 'Peace Offering' to Kevin Garnett Won't Be Enough to Stop Bad Blood Between Celtics, Heat (Video)

Ray Allen beat the Boston Celtics as a member of the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, and it was clear to everyone watching that Kevin Garnett and the C's were none too happy about that. Despite Allen doing his best to diffuse the tension by tapping KG on the shoulder before entering the game, it's obvious that the deep dislike between these two teams is only...

The Snub Felt Around the World: Video of Kevin Garnett ignoring Ray Allen

If you have not yet heard the news of Kevin Garnett’s cold shoulder to former teammate Ray Allen, you must not be listening to radio reports or watching SportsCenter. Maybe you live in a hole. Gary Tanguay of CSNNE said, ‘It’s bush league what Garnett did to Allen’. What do you think? Here’s the video so you can play [...]

Kevin Garnett ignores Ray Allen

Celtics star Kevin Garnett said he lost Ray Allen’s number once he defected to the Heat. Garnett takes that team jumping thing seriously- at least from Ray Allen. Allen went over to the C’s bench before tip-off to give dap to the coaching staff and acknowledge KG. But the gesture wasn’t reciprocated. video via IFWT

Kevin Garnett gave Ray Allen the cold shoulder last night

Recap: Celtics leave defense in Boston for season opener

I know it’s October, but I expected so much more from the Celtics. After all the talk about the Heat and Ray Allen, I expected the defensive intensity to be there. It wasn’t. And the Heat rolled 120-107. LeBron James had 26 points in 29 minutes. If he doesn’t sit out most of the 4th quarter with leg cramps, Miami wins this game by 25. Ray Allen played to his ceiling (19 points...

Shootaround: And so it begins...

Boston Celtics (0-0) vs. Miami Heat (0-0) 8 p.m./TNT   Tonight's game of the night is the grudge match to end all grudge matches. Kevin Garnett gets to meet up with his old friend Ray Allen and the Heat and the Celtics renew their rivalry. Oh, and Miami is getting its rings for winning the championship. What could possibly go wrong with Kevin Garnett foaming...

JbSmooth84.com Boston Celtics 2012-2013 Preview

Injuries contributed to the demise of the Boston Celtics last year, making it to the Eastern Conference Finals was quite the accomplishment for a team that was hobbled by injuries and aging. The Celtics have reloaded letting Ray Allen leave for Miami but getting Jason Terry to fill his place. Along with signing Darko Milicic, Leandro Barbosa and Jeff Green they should have a solid...
