On February 4, 1997, Missouri notched arguably the biggest upset in the history of the Border War, toppling the then-top ranked and 22-0 Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas had a lineup that featured four future NBA players in Paul Pierce, Jacque Vaughn, Raef LaFrentz and Scot Pollard. With time running out and the game tied during the second overtime, Missouri’s possession looked doomed. Then, after a broken play, guard Corey Paint sank the game winner with 5.6 seconds left for a 96-94 win. The Tigers will be hoping for some similar fortune tonight as they head into Lawrence to take on the second ranked Jayhawks.
