Former Lakers power forward Samaki Walker was arrested during an Arizona traffic stop on Thursday on a drug possession charge, but the circumstances surrounding the arrest makes this one of the more interesting sports arrests I am aware of.
Walker was pulled over by police in Kingman, Arizona Thursday and as police approached his vehicle, the NBA bust attempted to consume eight grams of marijuana to avoid drug possession charges. Well, that did not work out for Walker as he was eventually arrested on possession charges.
Walker had an underwhelming NBA career as the ninth selection in the 1996 NBA Draft out of Louisville averaged 5.3 PPG over the course of 10 seasons.
He now plays professional basketball in Syria as a member of Al-Jalaa Aleppo.
