PLAYERS: Gary PaytonDavid Stern
TEAMS: Miami Heat
Seattle basketball fans haven't been the same since they lost their beloved franchise of the SuperSonics. Now the team resides in Oklahoma City and holds the name of the Thunder, who are competing for an NBA title against the Miami Heat.

An ESPN SportsNation poll asked fans on who would win the NBA Finals and the only states who had the Heat as the majority to win were Florida and Washington. Get it?

Anyways, Seattle is now trying to work on getting a new NBA team for the city. Maybe they could bring the Sonics back? For the past few days, city mayor Mike McGinn and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer joined in discussion with David Stern on bringing a team to Seattle.

According to the Seattle Times, the fans had a rally Thursday to show support for bringing an NBA team. Former Sonics greats such as Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton showed up for it:
Instead, a two-hour rally organized by Chris Hansen, the lead financier behind the plan, served as an opportunity to remember the Sonics' history and fire up those hoping for the team's return. "Thank you, Chris," yelled a crowd estimated by Hansen's group at 6,000 — and by others at 2,000 to 3,000 — as Hansen took the stage to open the rally at 4 p.m.

The former Sonics included Gary Payton, Slick Watts, Shawn Kemp and Detlef Schrempf. The politicians included King County Executive Dow Constantine, Seattle City Council member Bruce Harrell and King County Council member Bob Ferguson.

We'll see if Seattle can bring back an NBA team sooner or later.

Chris Bosh and Ronny Turiaf fail miserably at executing high-five (video, GIF)

With the Miami Heat up 17 on the Oklahoma City Thunder late in the second quarter in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Chris Bosh and Ronny Turiaf attempted to execute a celebratory high-five during a time out. Sadly, it was not to be as the two clumsily engaged in an epic display of celebration [...]

Dwyane Wade: “I’m not that athletic as I was in 2006″

Generally speaking, it’s tough for athletes, especially ones of Dwyane Wade’s caliber to come to terms with the fact that they have lost a step. But in his case, it seems as if Wade, not only knows that he’s lost a little something, but he’s accepted it and understands that he can still be a great player. “I was 24 — totally different,” said Wade, 30. “I’m not...

Heat’s Chris Bosh Not Allowed to Take Daughter to London Olympics

We all heard about Chris Bosh with his newborn son last month. However, he also has a three-year-old daughter with his old girlfriend and baby mama, Allison Mathis. Bosh was going to take his daughter to the London Olympics to watch him play with Team USA, seeing if the basketball team can make their second straight run at the gold medal. However, that won’t be happening now....

Chris Bosh’s Baby’s Momma Doesn’t Want Daughter at Olympics Because of ‘Possible Terrorism’; Judge Agrees

Call me crazy, but it seems like taking your daughter to an international unity of hundreds of countries would be something that would happen without controversy. Chris Bosh wasn’t so lucky in this regard. A Judge has ruled in favor of Chris Bosh’s baby’s momma, Allison Mathis, which forbids the Heat star forward from bringing his daughter to London for the Olympics, according...

The Miami Heat were able to steal a win in Oklahoma City against the Thunder in Game 2 to tie the NBA Finals series and will be looking to go up 2-1 tonight as the scene shifts to Miami. The Heat have been led by All-Star LeBron James as he has been producing on both ends of the court. Jest Kills It With ‘LeBron James Home Movies’

Jest.com is always on point when they cover sports, but this clip of LeBron James developing his talents (and bad habits) at an early age might be the funniest thing they’ve ever done. 1994 LeBron taking his talents to Peter’s team and dribbling forever only to pass at the buzzer are funny enough, but the joke about not being able to be Michael Jordan in NBA Jam is so good...

LeBron James' Uncalled Foul on Kevin Durant Erases Clutch Steal That Would Have Done Larry Bird Proud

The end of an NBA game typically is a time for the referees to swallow their whistles. Few fans like to see close games decided at the free throw line -- unless it is their team headed to the stripe, of course -- so except in the rare event that there is a mugging at the hoop, the hardwood in the waning seconds might as well be a New York City blacktop. Some fouls just need to be...

LeBron James Finally Clutch Is Reason Why Critics Can Hush

Now that he silenced the world and such anarchy is over, it's fair to state the truth. LeBron James is simply clutch. Only the naive believes he didn't have one of his best games in Finals history. Weren't you watching? Because if you weren't a witness, this was the kind of performance his disbelievers and even supporters were waiting for anxiously, and indeed, he...

All you have to do is take one look at the picture above to understand what this is going to be. So we won’t waste your time trying to convince you that this song in honor of LeBron James sung by Mike Tyson on Jimmy Kimmel Live is probably the craziest thing you’ll see today. But what else can you expect when Mike Tyson is involved. [Slam]

POTD 6/14/12: Kevin Durant on Shane Battier

It seems like Kevin Durant’s been dunking on everybody lately, you say?  Well, that’s because Kevin Durant has been dunking on everybody lately.  With this running one-hander over Shane Battier, Durant collects his 5th POTD of the 2012 playoffs, a postseason record.  He actually set a new standard with his 4th poster, too, as no one had ever achieved more than three in any...

Late push from Oklahoma City Thunder not enough to take down the Miami Heat

Thursday night the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat went to battle in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The Heat came out of the gates early and strong running up the score deficit between them and the Thunder. For the Heat it was mostly Lebron James and Dwayne Wade as they scored 32 and 24 points respectively. The Thunder almost made yet another 4th quarter comeback though...

2 shirts, 1 LeBron

Is this seriously going to be a new trend? LeBron James is wearing a button down underneath a plunging v-neck polo shirt. Gianni Versace is rolling over in his grave On second thought, I actually like this look.

Video: Lebron James is Clutch

Are you clutch if you make 2 free throws with 7 seconds left on the clock, when your team is up 3 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals? How about if you draw a charge with 4 seconds left in the game, when you opponent has only a glimmer of hope in mounting a comeback? Yes Lebron James, you are clutch. James was able to come through in a big way in the final seconds of the Miami Heat‘s 100...
