ESPN produces a lot of ****. Some awful things are shoved down our throats by this all encompassing sports giant, be it online content, radio, or TV. Not everything the WWL spits out is bad though. Simmons is good, Chad Ford’s draft stuff is awesome, and their fantasy stuff is the best I’ve seen by far. All of that pales in comparison to the holy grail of time wasters- ESPN.com’s NBA Trade Machine. Jesus is that thing fun to mess around with, a revelation for the 12 remaining NBA obsessed fans out there. So I decided to make up a few completely possible trades, with explanations.

Fake Trade That Totally Works #1

NY gets: Carmelo Anthony, Kenyon Martin, JaVale McGee

Denver gets: Eddy Curry, Anthony Randolph, Ronnie Turiaf, Kelenna Azibuike, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov,Bill Walker, NY #1 pick in 2014(lottery protected)

Washington gets: Andy Rautins, Toney Douglas, Yao Ming

Houston gets: Nick Young, Andray Blatche, Kevin Seraphin, Yi Jianlian, J.R. Smith, Washingtons #2 pick in 2011

Why the Knicks do it: The Knicks would jump at the chance to add Anthony, especially without having to give up Gallinari.

Why the Nuggets do it: After seeing the mess in Toronto and Cleveland, the Cavs will feel the need to get something back for Melo’. They get some nice prospects in Randolph,Walker and Mosgov, vets to keep them competitive (Turiaf and Chandler), and a future #1. Given the circumstances, thats a pretty good haul.

Why the Wizards do it: They get 2 young guards in Rautins and Douglas, and have a flexible situation with Yao in the off-season (sign and trade, sign him, or use his huge EC else where).

Why the Rockets do it: They want young players, EC’s, and a draft pick for Yao. Blanche and Seraphin, Young, Yi, and Smith, an early #2 all fill those holes.

Fake Trade That Totally Works #2

Cleveland gets: BJ Mullens, Mo Peterson, Tibor Pleiss(31st pick in 2010, euro-stash)

OKC gets: Anderson Varejao

Why the Cavs do it: The trade of the teams most popular player will send the message to Cavs fans ”We suck, we know we suck, were in full rebuilding mode”. They also get the local kid Mullens, Petersons EC, and Pleiss, a highly thought of Euro who was a sure-fire 1st rounder if not for his huge buy-out.

Why the Thunder do it: The chance to add a inexpensive, tough, rebounder like Varejao without having to give up a contributor is a home run for them.

Fake Trade That Totally Works #3

Orlando gets: Ben Wallace, Chris Wilcox

Toronto gets: Ben Gordon

Detroit gets: Daniel Orton, Soloman Alabi, 3 million from Orlando

Why the Magic do it: They got the fire power to compete with the Heat, now they need the bigs to compete with Boston.

Why the Raptors do it: They get another scorer for next to nothing.

Why the Pistons do it: Picking up 2 young bigs, ridding themselves of Gordon’s contract, and getting under the luxury tax are all big wins for a struggling Pistons team
